Hi guys, a light came on followed by a beep..then the car cut out outside my house. It wouldnt start first time, but I cranked it again and it sprung to life and I parked it in the drive.

Looked in the manual and the light that popped up was the "cambiocorsa failure light"

Im going to search for similar threads on here but any initial thoughts? F1 pump/ Relay?

Light still on?

Check fluid levels in box, maybe do a reset too.

Any hints before it gave up? Long pump priming.......anything else?

I'll check now, is it ok to restart it without damaging further? Can I check the relay to see if its working?

p.s. thanks for the quick reply Parisien!

Hi Phrozen, how was the journey home? Start stop traffic, first gear, on the clutch all the time? If so then this can throw the warning light.

It was short..literally 3mins? Its a journey I been performing for a while now with no problems?

The car is parked on a slope so driving off involves a hill start but from then onwards its all downhill (in fact the light came on whilst going down hill)

Fluid, check first, then relay, then pump.

When you unlock the car how many seconds is the pump priming for?

will check all of these things guys! will order a new relay in the morning regardless as its worth the few pounds it costs!

My understanding from the handbook is that the fluid is the same as the PAS fluid??

thanks for all the help guys!!

Right, luckily theres an alfa dealer nearby so I can get some fluid if needs be. The handbook doesn't say where to check the fluid level ..just refers you to the dealer!

Its quite awkward I believe, need to have it up on a ramp effectively...maybe Matt or Loz will pass by.

Not sure, never done it, can you do a how to pictorial guide for the "Running Reports & Technical Fixes" section mate?

P is absolutely right, it is very ackward to get to...I have never seen it on a 4200, but have been under my QP to have a look.
If it is of interest, I can post a guide on how to check the level, including a couple of pics from a QP MY06 workshop manual,
I will make it absolutely clear though that you use this at your own risk!
