Just reversed my car into a post...was easing up to it and it jerked backwards and smacked it. Because the post was so thin making the impact very focussed in one area, it's put a 2-3 inch crack in it :(

Aarrgghhhhh! This is when I miss a clutch pedal!

I hope it can be repaired as I don't fancy buying a new bumper (or using my insurance) for this silly mistake.

Not happy :(

Bugger!
Hopefully not a new bumper, surprising what can be repaired rather than replaced. I had a similar 'injury' on an a car a couple of years ago, all fixed good as new in a few hours.
I agree about the clutch pedal though...

Palmball,

Sorry to hear about your woes.. I had a similar some time ago I was nearly crushed in the blind spot of a reversing 40 tonner and had to chose a post or being crushed so reversed into the post instead!

The handbook for the 4200cc says that if you hold the down shift padlle for 2 seconds you can activate a 'special' clutch feature ... but it does not explain what it is or when it is intended to be used... Anyone got more information about this???

Is it for a higher rev race away launch?

Is it for low speed manouverability?

I think that the special clutch feature was removed in later versions of the cc software when upgraded by the dealers.
As I believe the hill start option was.
So I woundnt think that it was put into the later qp,gt, gts models, but interesting to know if it was.

My mrs did this in the beemer at our old house, I never did get it repaired..... which was a good thing as there's a matching one on the other side now!

You could try using the brake pedal as a clutch - left foot firmly on brake, build revs to biting point of actual clutch and gently release brake to move.
However, whilst this sounds fairly simple try it with nothing to reverse into first as it's not as easy as you might think. And should be done sparingly as I wouldn't imagine it's do your actual clutch much good.
