Just reversed my car into a post...was easing up to it and it jerked backwards and smacked it. Because the post was so thin making the impact very focussed in one area, it's put a 2-3 inch crack in it :(

Aarrgghhhhh! This is when I miss a clutch pedal!

I hope it can be repaired as I don't fancy buying a new bumper (or using my insurance) for this silly mistake.

Not happy :(

They can usually be repaired by plastic welding the crack from behind. Don't know how much damage will be caused to the paintwork though. May need a respray or a localised colour repair and a full re lacquer. Best of luck.

Mmm....don't know how I got two threads on this - I blame the stupid iPhone that I posted it with!

The paintwork will need doing as thats damaged too - I barely touched it so am quite surprised at the level of damage but it's just my own stupid fault for not paying attention properly. I'd like to blame the clutch but in all honesty, thats quite smooth now as I've just had a software update done which has made the world of difference. I even heard the parking sensors going but they were going off at the same time as the beeping you get when you initially select reverse so....a boll0cks to it, theres just no excuse!

I'll post some pics later....I don;t even know if the bumper can be repaired as it's got a crease in it where it's stretched the plastic (but I'm still hoping it can in some way!)

I've never had to have a bumper repaired, but I understand they have quite maliable when heated up. Good luck getting it sorted, let us know how you get on.

NB, if you take it to an authorised dealer for a repair, sit down before they give you the quote :)

Well, the good news is it can be repaired and at a very reasonable £305 inc. the painting of the whole bumper. Not a bad result but still...what a waste!

For those in Riviera Loughborough...this was quoted by Jacksons (had good experience of them in the past when I did a very similar thing on my C63 so more than happy to let them loose on this).
