If it were the pedal pot or throttle pot electronic failure you would expect to see a Check Engine Light on the dash.

3200 GTA Loz.

Just a thought and worth checking re the pedal pot , i believe there have been previous threads regarding removing/splicing wires to the potentiometer (pedal pot) wondered if this has been done , and come undone, consequences can lead to total breadown of the unit

Ah yes, good spot. Another one to check whilst under the steering wheel.

MS

he can only reverse on idle from what I read so could be the Pot.

Paul Check light won't always come on! I know a bit ironic considering that it can light up at will for even a bad earth, when my pot gave up the ghost I had 40 mph limp mode with no check light at first then check light and no limp mode. Don't you just love the 3200. A beautifully flawed car but worth every moment of anxiety.

Ah ok, I didn't read closely enough. Yep, amazing that the CEL is so sensitive to the pot day to day, but when you get a proper failure it doesn't come on! After a while I just started ignoring the CEL on my 3200. I once got worried when it didn't come on after a few days.

It's the ONLY time I've had a CEL light believe it or not. My car has been no trouble at all that is the only thing and I was in London so popped down to Meridien they diagnosed it that day and fixed it the next day under warranty. tell a lie I had the CEL when I went a little too qick over a cattle grid. That was a brake light switch sensor, did a diag with my hand held tool, reset and never came back. I know I should not say it's been trouble free as it's bound to play up now!

It's quite confirm the problem related to electricity throttle, even disconnected the battery and restart, still the same response. Does anyone know the parts referral? It should be something like throttle valve, or should I just ask eurospares directly? Thanks in advance.

Don't get the OEM part, get the upgraded part from Boomerang. If you can, you could send him both parts for inspection.

Hi Rudy,
look at the top of the page, click on community, drop down menu-click member list, click "B" on the A-Z and I think Boomerang is on the third page. Click on his name and on his profile page to the left, click on Private Message, tell him what you want.

Cheers

I had a very similar thing with my 4200 last winter.
I drove it to my mums near beaulieu last year and after a heavy frost couldnt get the car to start (click click click)
I realised that it was the battery most likely as it was fine the day before so got a charger and put a few amps into it for a few hours.
I then started the car and it did this really wierd thing where it would just creep forward or backward even at engine revving its guts out.(almost like trying to drive it with all the brakes on)
Anyway i thought it might be related to the way that the car needs to check everything electrical before it starts and went and bought a new battery for it.
I turned the key this time and let it cogitate for 20 seconds or so and then turned the key to start it. it was fine after that and has never done this again.(but for a second there i had many small beads of sweat on my forehead and a sinking thought i my head somewhat akin to.... GULP!!)

Dem had a similar issue to this that everyone thought was throttle pot related as it kept going into limp mode, it turned out to be something else. Before you do anything like sending off parts I would get it on an SD2 and get it diagnosed properly. This will cost you about £50, there is a guy with mobile SD2 & 3 who can come to you if you are near London? It is worthwhile getting the fix from Boomerang and I have this fitted to my car but if its not that and you get it back you will be very disappointed.

Where are you based?

I live in Hong Kong, no way there is any mobile guy can diagonis my baby in this area. I can only tow it back to ferrari Maserati sole dealer to check, but probably cost me a fortune.

There was a guy from Holland (Marcel I think) selling the software to do this yourself if you have the early (pre 2001) connector, he charged about £100 for the software and connectors. If you have a post 2001 car I think there are other options available?

Main dealer will not charge much to put your car on the diagnostics, as I said this should be no more than £50 (I paid this at Maranello which is the main dealer nearest me).
