Thats ok for the 0.005% of public who can buy new, whether they can afford to is their business, for the rest us us.....its commenting from the sidelines!
The contract hire companies seem to think that depreciation will be high. The best deal I have been quoted for contract hire as a company car is £714 + VAT per month. An E class diesel hybrid can be had for £425+VAT. Also income tax for BIK is £422 per month for the Ghibli as against £172 for the Merc. This would mean that a Ghibli would cost over £10k more over 3 years for the company and the user would pay nearly £9k more in tax. Only an enthusiast will pay this I'm sure.
Ironically this may result in a lack of fleet sales which in itself will mean less cars on the second hand market which may keep prices up.
Either Maserati have got it wrong yet again, or they have planned it this way to not sell many and keep exclusivity. They have to make their mind up what they want, or change Management and get a firm direction that makes sense..!!
