Do you think I could sell this product?

What do you all think? Would collectors and enthusiasts be interested in getting images like this of their cars?

Its a lovely pic. Suppose its cost dependant question really.

At £400 I would say no, at £100 in a simple frame, I would say yes but assume that is out of scope.

Maybe people would pay more if it was an A0 laminated image for the garage?

Cheers guys.
Allan - don't worry, I knew it wouldn't be everybody's taste.
Conaero - yes £400 would be the starting point for one printed onto glossy aluminium
Phil - no HDR here lol. Each of the cars were individually lit, inside and out and also each of the garage interiors.

This style is very popular with our commercial clients for their business premises and even their homes so I thought I would try one with my motors. It would probably work out too expensive for most.

Absolutely none. I took about 60 ten second exposures and used about 15 of them to make this composite image. The exposure settings were the same for each image to avoid the HDR look. Each car was individually lit from a variety of angles and inside. The interior of each garage, the exterior and the sky were also shot separately. The flair is real from the floodlights. After the cars had been set up (and the garages tidied) it took about about 1.5 hours to shoot and about 2.5 to edit. Hence the price!

If I had taken that I would be chuffed to bits and would gladly hang on my wall, but a little on the busy side for my liking to pay for it......personally I would have went with the magic 3 number, rarely IMO does a designed pic improve with more than 3 subjects, especially given you have 3 garages behind...just my opinion mind.

Very cool picture but I agree that would be a tough sell at that price. I also agree that it's too busy and 3 cars in the garage (and the bicycles removed from the wall (throwing my eyes off for some strange reason)) would have made for a perfect composition. Great job though, you should be very proud of your work.

Three cars might have made better composition but which of my babies could I have removed. It would have been like choosing your favourite child!! I already left out the Outlander and the Panda Sisley.

Lol. Golden rule of photography, never work with children or animals............or have to choose between your cars! ;)

In my experience the average punter either cannot afford artwork or will not pay a reasonable price no matter what the subject. You need to target those who can afford to pay. They generally stand out from the crowd, just look for the designer leather jackets & the Rolex chronometric watches and a key ring which says Ferrari. Our Lotus club tried to auction some excellent artwork of Lotus cars on track captured by one of our members who is the local distributor for Leica,Nikon,Hasselblad etc. We didn't get one bid.
At track days we have professionals taking excellent action shots of your car. An 8 x 12 print costs A$20 available on the day and I don't know how the photographer makes a profit,so few purchase the prints.
Anyhoo,best of luck,love your work.

His work is excellent. Will get him to do my GT next year.

Couldn't agree more. We've found in the past that the effort and time spent trying to seek out clients like that is rarely worth it. Maybe if I was starting out, but we already have an established business in social photography. I used to be that guy, taking pics on spec and hoping to sell them, but not anymore thank god!

You have my sympathies........much easier on the ego working with wildlife, you can at least try and blame them if the shot goes wrong! Lol

Lol funny thing is, I actually prefer working with people. While I enjoyed taking this one as it was of my cars, by the time I was lighting the last car, I was getting bored. I missed the interaction.

Maybe you should go and ask on the Ferrari forums then lol :D

Anyway you reminded me I need to buy a frame and hang up the professional photo I bought from my car on the Brands Hatch circuit at Festival Italia 2016. Many of these guys don't do a great job at advertising, I saw the guy take a photo while we were on track then spent months trying to find him so I could buy a print.

To the OP, sorry my garage and drive aren't that impressive to put up on the wall, call back in another 25 years and I might be interested!

Horses for courses I guess. This style is more suited to commercial work of buildings etc but fancied trying it on my cars. £150 is a great price, we would charge that just to take the photos! This one will be going onto a sheet of aluminium like this one...20171220_110121.jpg

Lol it took me longer to tidy the garage and the drive than it did to take the pic!
