Does anyone have or has had a Merc cabriolet?

Looking at a E53 or 450 Cabriolet and seeing a couple over the weekend, but wondered if anyone on here has experience of them and would share? The wild card is another Audi S5 cabriolet as the good lady loved hers and would have another, although Audi stopped production in 2018 there are a few out there with the updated electronic dash a la TT.
I've checked out the Merc forums as well.

Had a couple, and the GF has a SLC at the moment.

Good cars, not much rattle if any at all and due to softer spring rates they feel to have less scuttle shake than the BMWs.

They are designed for a more wafting ride so you may be disappointed if you want an all out sports car.

Thanks, happy to waft so long as it makes progress when I want it to.

I bought a E350D Cabriolet at the end of December and can't fault it. There isn't much in the way of room in the back, but it's put together well, and goes like a stink (for a diesel).
The only issues I've had are an engine management light (which has now gone out) for a NOx sensor, and the passenger window need re-aligning so there is wind noise above 80 (on a private test track of course).
There's a bit of scuttle shake over bumpy roads but I expect that on a convertible.

But other than that it's great.

The newer E400D's are rapid and I think they have 330bhp, the interior is upgraded as well to the same at the new S-Class.

Her SLC feels almost a quick as the GS, but yet to test in anger.

Most are autos however and they can be a little keen to change up to improve the MPG, having said that they do have quick gear changes (well hers does on S+ MODE)

From what I've seen the interiors are nice place to be, more so if the spec has the full Nappa leather. It'll be a 2018/19 model most likely, as they seem to be good value for money.

I’ve had a few years ago a E class sport cabriolet 220Diesel, 2015 plate and couldn’t wait to get rid of it…

Constant Window and dashboard rattles, even after attempted remediation by the main dealer by stripping the dash+foam+new roof/door seals etc.

The MD gave up in the end due to the nature of the chassis ‘flex’ causing the loud vibrations and rattles in the cabin… my last and final Mercedes. Had bought 5x brand new+ used GLA, E, A, B in a space of 7years from 2012 onwards…. Each one of them plagued with build quality and/or electrical problems. Never again, switched to Audi which seem to have a much better build quality at least

I'm too young to own one ;)
Had a SLK probably 10 years ago owned it for 24 hours.
Nothing wrong with it just flipped it with a footballers wage packet profit :)

Great car the E53. Looks lovely, well built and the interior is a lovely place to be plus it’s quick (0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds from its 429bhp). A chap I work with has one and wouldn’t change it. He has had it for there years and done 50k in it and I has never missed a beat. He has had an S5 and wouldn’t have it over the E53 and I think I would agree as he said the E53 felt a better drivers car and the Audi sterile by comparison plus the E53 looks so much better.

They don't do anything for me, the coupe looks like a blob of melted ice cream and the convertible reminds me of the Lexus 430SC - they both just look heavy and clumsy but that's just my opinion

Thanks, we've had an S5 previously, I was never a huge fan but the Mrs loved it and still bangs on about how she sold it so we could get our 1st GC. The E53 is a lovely looking car and having followed one along the Welsh coastal road last weekend they certainly aren't heavy and clumsy. Lets see what the weekend brings.

I think you're in a league of your own, quirky perhaps, I mean with the love of the little Renault.....;) And as for golf, a good walk spoiled.

E53 purchased. It really is a lovely place to be, great quality of finish all around. The only thing missing is a tuneful exhaust note, but in sports mode it sounds ok and it certainly can make progress ( if you know what I mean officer) when safe to do so.;)
