Looking for some assistance please. Got into my 4200 and started the car, my drivers seat started moving to the full foward position. No response from the seat controls. After a few minutes of fidgeting I started smelling electrical burning smell. Shut off the car and pulled the battery. Anyone run into this before? Not sure how I can take the seat out to diagnose in full forward position?

There are 3 identical electric motors under the seat. Switch the burnt one with one of the good ones and you'll be able to move the seat. The space is very limited but with the right tool (long flexible socket drive) it's doable in about 10 minutes.

The micro switch connected to the tilt lever might have gone too. That’s what commands the seat to move forward for easy entry.

I reconnected the battery today and the seat started moving again, though the motor is making alot more noise. Ill add replacing the motor with the porsche motor on my to do list! Thanks for the help!

My advice is get the seat bolts undone (move fully forward to get the rears, move fully back to get the fronts) otherwise if the seat motors fail and you can’t move the seat base to access the bolts you are in all sorts of trouble.

It happened on MAFs GS, total and utter nightmare.

Yeah but removing the floor was a bit extreme!
