Not my cup of tea mate just remind me of Kit Cars sorry.
Built a Dax Cobra in the early 000'S and even with best of everything used I was disappointed.
Fair enough... understood and can appreciate that. I need to spend some more time with my TVR before I decide if it says or goes. I might replace it with Caterham or Lotus Elise/Evora maybe if it goes.

MX5...then add some project work tonight such as turbo or supercharged conversion?
I'm wanting RWD and already expecting the hairdresser comments but at the minute the Porsche is in the lead for me and not driven one properly yet other than a customers several years ago.

Any hairdresser comments on a Boxster will be from people who don't get them or maybe hasn't driven one Phil...Buy and enjoy......I always found that the S had the right amount of power to make you smile and have fun. Beautifully build as well......

Cheers Andy I must admit from my experience most of the German stuff around that era put together well and last if looked after.

Agree, my 2012 older shape C class feels a better quality product than the latest C class.........and remember taking my M3 in for a service and they lent me the next generation 3 and mine had better quality materials inside I thought so don't disagree with you there.

We have a 987 Cayman S amongst other things. Fantastic car with brilliant handling and very good luggage space. I highly recommend them.

I've also had a 2006 E46 M3 manual coupé (running alongside the Cayman). Another great car, but the Porsche has better handling, engine (IMO) and driving position. But then it should have because it's a sports car from the outset.

For me the E46 is the best example of the old style BMW design before it went all Bangle. I enjoyed my 330d a great deal and hankered after an M3 CSL back in the day.

I can see the appeal of the Boxter, but would probably go Cayman and only then if there was no choice.

As weekend tinkering project cars both would be great, both for the driving and for the spannering.

Another vote for a cayman , I currently drive a 3.4s and it’s a incredible drivers car and reasonable practical .

I was looking at 981 Boxters very recently. I drove a mate’s car with the tiptronic box and sports exhaust and I was, sadly, very impressed with it. It went very well, handled very well, stopped well, sounded great and felt really nice to drive. Alas, I didn’t reckon it would be a good daily for the Missus so I bought her a TT RS because she preferred 4 wheel drive and more performance. I didn’t bother looking at M3s.

Why would you when you the diesel variant that's quicker... As very confused chap I left behind in one the other day can confirm!

I outdragged a Cossie whilst in a Sherpa van once, doesn’t mean they’re any good. ;)

Had the unfortunate displeasure of having to drive a Leyland DAF on many occasions. Had to pick up some glass from Birmingham once....chr1st...how loud. Maybe that is why I suffer from Tinnitus now!

Also had a Bedford Midi as a company van as a Field Engineer....shocker!

Christ the Bedford Midi. What a machine.

When I was 17 my father had a Bedford Rascal for our fast food emporium (chip shop). The handling and axle trap was most amusing, it was really fast compared to my Fiat 500 too.

We had the Suzuki version when I was a kid. Fond memories of my dad attempting handbrake turns and j-turns in it in an empty carpark.

Thinking about it, he would probably been younger then than I am today... Which means he grew out of being an idiot in cars, so there's hope for me yet!

(He says after drifting the truck around the apple trees in the garden last weekend...)
