Morning all, I am after some advice please. My light fault indicator is illuminated on the dash of my 3200 GTA. However, all my lights are working. The fault light comes on when I depress the brake pedal and stays on until I release it. If I put the lights on the fault light indicates but only stays on for about a second, then comes back on and repeats the cycle.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

you sure the brake lights are working? have you had a look at the LED array to see if there are some of the LEDS that are not working? one of my rear light clusters did this there were 4 or 6 of the LED's not working. at that time it was 900 for a new light, and i opened the light unit up and repaired the board with new LEDs, that was over 6 years ago now and its been fine ever since. Not an easy job i should add.

Cheers for the info, first ever electrical niggle I have had in over four years of ownership. There is one brake light led out in the high level array. All other lights work, any clues as to the whereabouts of the brake light switch. I don't think it is this as it indicates a fault when the lights are on but I will check all possibilities.

Brake pedal switch was my initial thought.

It's on the pedal and a known item to fail.

Cheap and easy to replace.

Many thanks for all your help, brake pedal switch ordered, will fit on arrival. Then it will be going in for an mot, off-side shock absorber replacement/overhaul and hopefully nothing else.........

Ok chaps, I replaced the brake pedal sensor, it of a fiddle but easy enough. However I still have the problem, with the lights on, it flashes the bulb failure warning light at me, and when I depress the brake pedal, it stays on. Any other ideas??

It's got to be a ropey connection to one of the bulb holders screwing the CANBUS. Or a failed ECU

Just thinking outloud. What would happen if you disconnected the high level array with the one LED out on it but connected a standard brake bulb as a test in its place ?

Would the canbus detect the bulb and the fact that its working ?

If the fault then cleared then it would prove that the high level LED was causing the fault.

The other thing that springs to mind is if you just disconnect the high level LED does the fault remain the same or does the behavior change.

My thinking on the second part is that if the fault doesnt show when you put your lights on after disconnecting the high level array then again it points to the high level led array being the culprit.
