Virgin Upper was always my favourite. I really wasn't that impressed by Business on the Emirates A380. Terribly comfortable but not very special. More a Jag compared to a Strad ;)

Flown business or first with most of the major carriers between about mid 90’s to about 2010. Think Singapore and Cathay were the best overall experiences IMO inc the airport lounges. Worst was Crab Air as I mentioned in earlier post in my previous RN days, closely followed by the US carriers who all seemed to be ****. Maybe different these days as I retired and gladly gave up endless business travel in 2013.

Think Singapore and Cathay

They were, although the Cathay lounges I was in were nothing special. KL it was I think. Oh and Singapore in HK from memory not all that either. Although an A380 that looked like it was about to come through the glass behind the bar made us flinch!

I had one opportunity to fly upper class on a Virgin 747. It was bloody excellent, steak for dinner, a massage before landing. All very pleasant! All of the other planes I have flown transatlantic pale in comparison.
Nice story, I always like a happy ending...

This thread is pisssing me off a bit, I've been on hundreds of 737/Airbus 320/321 flights, one DC10 and that's it.

Oh and a couple of Tupolev Tu-154 flights.

One wide-body in my whole life!

Is there a hardship benefit I can apply for?

I am much the same and have only managed to fly Business once in my life when the wife and I went to Abu Dhabi two years back.

We went with Ethied and it was amazing, not sure I could justify digging so deep into my pockets again though, but not regrets.

Box ticked

62A and K. Better than First for peace and quiet (if not for booze and food). I don't even want to think how long I've spent on BA 747s, but it is indeed a sad day to see them retired.

Mind you, some of that fleet was long-past it's use-by date!
62A & K every time! Nobody clambering over your feet and waking you up - and visa versa - those side cupboards were so much better than the overhead stuff too.
BA seems a distant memory since lockdown...........

Yes to all that. My last junket was HK, Malaysia and Singapore in Jan, then Turin, then lockdown. I’ve almost stopped missing it.

If there is I have priority:
Comet, Britannia, Shackleton, Belfast, Hercules, VC10, Andover, and one or two I'd best not mention.

You lot have been spoilt rotten.

PH
But the majority of my 737 trips were Ryanair, trump that!

Gone from travelling all the time to nothing since 10th March..... Bloody love it!!!

747’s had their day years ago... had not been on a 747 for a few years and about a couple of years ago, walked down the ramp at Toronto Airport and........ onto a 747 and not the usual weekly 787 Dreamliner.... it was the noisiest and most uncomfortable flight I had taken in a long time as have got so used to newer and quieter planes....

No rose-tinted glasses for me.....

Always thought I’d be able use my current 2.3million’odd BA miles....

not sure now but to be honest, I’m over flying!!

You can spend them on other stuff. IME easier than actually trying to buy a bloody flight.

Pretty much stopped flying last year due to bonkers travel restrictions for work and then change of role. I had got to the point where I wasn't really enjoying being away from home.

By the time you get to that number, the last thing you want to be doing in leisure time is flying. Luckily, my family doesn't necessarily agree, so we've always done a good job of burning through miles, and have used them for front-of-plane holidays to South Africa, LA, around Asia, took my Mum to NY in FIrst for a birthday. They've been spent well, but how to use the remaining 600k is a mystery to me.

On the upside, I suppose at least we're now doing our bit to help the planet breathe, probably
