Faulty QP Fuel Filler Flap

I’ve seen some posts about the solenoid, however my problem a little different so thought this may come in handy for some. Twice now I’ve found myself looking the fool on the forecourt as the fuel flap wouldn’t open. Once I did get it open, had a good nosey and the springs mounted on the hinge looked very rusty. Got myself a mixed bag of torsion springs off Amazon, and today removed the flap. Sure enough one of the springs was rotten and had snapped. Took a while to remove the hinge pin, but all back together lined up and working a treat. Button pressed and flips out nicely to its fullest without any issues. All in, £7 and a little bit of time. Problem solved.

Good efforts there Raffles but another item that should really last the life of the car in my opinion.

I couldn’t agree more. Also not on the parts list, as a separate item and I didn’t want to go down the road of whole replacement miss matched paint etc.
