Hiya,
I have owned a number of ferrari's but am now the proud owner of a 4200 Spyder cambiocorsa. I have had it for nearly 5 years now and am only just starting to get a few problems! So........
When hot it jumps out of gear and into neutral! I new I should have got a Manual! Anybody had same or similar can help?

Hi Pilot...thanks for joining........sounds as if the fingers have collapsed on clutch plate. How many miles on clutch, the only symptoms?

But check fluid levels of gearbox, F1 pump too

Hi V8 and welcome to the forum. Does sound like a clutch issue. If its dropping out of gear the clutch may by on its way out. If its also clanking and behaving erratically then, as P mentions, the finger springs may be collapsing. Would be helpful to know the mileage on the clutch and the clutch wear reading if you have it?

cheers, Em.

Only when hot, Miles? My, admittedly limited, experience of clutch wear on these is that it isnt temp related, indeed in mine it first showed it's hand when cold. I'd be tempted to check F1 oil levels and a visual inspection of the transmission rads etc then get it on an SD2/3. Do these bluetooth OBDII readers cover the transmission oil temp?

Welcome V8Pilot,
As previously mentioned, check clutch and gear oil levels. They do jump in to neutral if hot and standing for a while, that's normal, it saves the clutch, but if you are travelling that should not happen. Can you explain what happens and when, does the clutch change sound at all noisy..??
Cheers

Very kind of you all to respond with good info which I am acting upon! It's only Money....Gasp! However, the Clutch is only worn 20% according to diagnostic so it will have to get it up on a lift to check all!

On a Happier note
I live in Kent and belong to Maserati Owners Club and we few hardy souls meet every First Monday of the Month at The **** in Boughton Monchalsea, If you are ver around we would be delighted to buy you all a

Hello to you all,

And once again thank you for your invaluable advice! Which is going to be sorted next week? I must say that you lot certainly help I and will at some point repay you all......At the Bar!
I have owned three Ferrari's and have had the pleasure of driving it to most points far and wide across Europe but the best and don't know whether any of you have done the The Route Napoleon?
I did it in a 333 Spyder, Probably the best car I have ever owned and I have had lots! Certainly demanding and must be done in a Spyder but If ever any of you are thinking of of a jolly Spiffing trip?
Then that would have to be included! My Car actually had a small problem right outside the Gates of the Ferrari Factory in Maranello and was fixed by a mechanic at no cost!! But a wonderful time and
cost a set of tyres too..........So If you are thinking about it........Count me in!
Happy Motoring and see you all in my rear view mirror
Mike

Hi, Mike. I drove parts of the route Napoleon earlier this year in a Spyder, and had the sunburn to show for it...an excellent drive, lots of winding roads and opportunities to let go a little. It can get a bit clogged in the tourist season (especially with bikers) but that just means more overtaking!

Hope to see you at a meet some time.
Chris.

V8,
The last Forum "Monte Carlo or Bust" trip took us all on some fantastic back roads, including the Route Napoleon. I like your style about the rear view mirror, that would only be whilst backing in to the car park, all the rest you would be on catch up..!!:numberone:

Likewise. Me and Ryan did the Alps two years ago in the spyder and had a blast. I will be doing them again someday and with just as much vigour. Fantastic, especially as she has more of a voice these days.
