This is great! I had no idea about these homologation documents. According to the homologation of the Merak it was homologated as a Group 4 car back in the 1970s, but as far as I know, the Merak was never entered in (high level) racing back then. Its C144 engine was though, and quite successful in long-distance rallies (in the Citroen SM; including winning the 1971 Rallye du Maroc) and in road racing (in the Ligier JS2; including winning the 1974 Tour de France, and a 8th place (2nd in class) at the 1974 Le Mans 24h).

Well, that’s something new for me. I’d never heard of homologation, I was confusing it with homogenization until I looked it up. :conf1:

This is from their historic database. I'll see if I can find the current H'gate list.
merak1974, it's amazing what one can dig up in odd areas of the interweb. In following the discussion over on Fchat about breaking out Maserati from Ferrari (chat wise), I am struck by the difference between the owners of the 2 marks. The Ferrari community seems to be more cohesive than the Mas group, with lines between the different era cars. The constant change of (factory) ownership probably has a lot to do with it. It would be nice IMHO to see some of the historic posts from over there migrate to here, or ML. For example FGM's photo thread. It's not that we owners of newer cars don't appreciate our great history, but that it is often so muddy and hard to find, and newbees to Maserati don't have easy access to that history.
Just my 2p.

Shame there's not one for the Granturismo, or is it too new?

I have the SRO / GT4 homologation documents from when my car was converted from the GT Trofeo to GT4 spec so that it could be raced in that series. It's a 110 page, 4MB pdf file but I have no idea how I can share it to here I'm afraid

4MB is ok to email but you could use Google Drive and share the link. Other cloud base file sharing facilities exist..

Merak Group 4.

By the way, Bora was almost homologated for Group 4. However, Maserati couldn't produce enough cars in time to meet the 500 road car rule.
