Hi boys,
Need some of your expertise opinion and advice again!
It has been almost 2 months since I posted my original questions about buying a GTS.
Well, I only took delivery of my 2009 GTS (Grigio Granito) on Saturday, yes it took 2 months to complete the purchase, some of you could have bought a GT and traded it in for a Stradale all in 2 months!
Anyway, the upside of this delay was that I had a Gran Cabrio Sport (in white) during this time. I can now summarise the differences: (both are automatic)
1. The Sport model, although has 10 extra HP, did not feel faster at all compares to the GTS automatic
2. It certainly sounds so much better compared to the GTS Auto, none of the non sense logic of opening the valve only at 3000+ rpm. It is just loud as soon as the spots button is activated.
3. Oh the noise on sport mode, especially with the roof down is simply intoxicating ! It was great to be able to enjoy the noise without exceeding any speed limit!
4. The boot is pretty much non existent, it could just about fit a 10 kg BBQ charcoals, and that was with a bit of force as well!
5. Air conditioner on the Gran Cabrio was not very effective during the last 2 weeks, I had it on full blast and still could not get it cool enough inside the car. You guys had any problem with air conditioning in yours?
6. Do you know that Gran Cabrio has a very different boot? I bought the carbon fibre lip spoiler from Noor (yes the spoiler arrived over 1 month before my car turned up). The boot on the Cabrio has a different shape, even the curvature is different compared to the GTS. By the way, I love the look of the carbon fibre spoiler, makes the car look more exotic, and more italian
7. The noise !
Now a few questions please.
1. I am so impressed and addicted to the noise and I do not want the enjoyment to be restricted at 3000+ rpm (unlike you lucky MC owners), so I have also bought the mini kit from Noor (yes, already a frequent shopper at Performance Italia before I actually had my car). I am going to take it to SMDG to have it installed. Has anyone had this done? How long would it take ?
2. The daytime running light on the sport model looks great, I am looking at replacing the standard park(or position) light, anyone done this before? How do you get to the light bulb? Just need to remove the engine cover? What sort of light bulb do I need? I just want to get rid of the yellowish coloured position light.
3. If I could get the mini kit to work, does it mean that I will be able to get the same exhaust note compared to the MC shift? If so, it will be the best of both world because I simply love the noise on the MC shift, but automatic works better for me. Not sure if opening the valve means GTS Auto would sound exactly the same as the GTS MC shift. Well, my car does sound quite similar to the Sport at above 3000+ rpm, not sure how it would compare to the MC shift.
Any other worthwhile mod? I found the gap between the rear tyres and the arch a bit big, but don't think I want to lower the car - simply asking for trouble driving over London speed bumps.
My car comes with a 12 months maserati warranty plus another 12 months warrantywise warranty. Ok. The maserati warranty must be great, how is the warranty from warrantywise?
Tanks for your advice !
