I’ve been thinking about buying a Maserati for a few years now (always wanted one) so took the plunge and bought a 2004 Coupe in an auction earlier this week. Spur of the moment decision so I know its a bit of a risk, but car looks nice, appears to have a good history and have been regularly maintained; plus price paid was not over the top. Main unknown is clutch condition and when last replaced - fingers crossed it will have at least some life before needing replacement.

Congratulations on your purchase! It would be interesting to see which car you have bought as it might be known to the forum.

Where in the country are you, we can point you to your local specialist. They would be able to tell you how much clutch is left although it is an indication.
As ever we'd like to see photos.

Welcome

Welcome.
The 4200 is a lovely car... I've had three!
If you are anywhere near the south coast I can suggest you call Emblem Sports Cars in Poole. They do a free Saturday Service and will go over the car with a fine tooth combe letting you know of any work that needs doing and how soon... including the clutch. There is no obligation to get them to do the work, but they will pick up even the smallest detail (including the positive terminal cover on the battery I suspect).

Enjoy the car.

4200 is a great car, don't worry about the clutch it will last as long as it lasts and then you will need to replace it but until then have fun. Not a bad idea to get it into something like Emblems free Saturday clinic as they will give you a list of jobs to complete over time and then you can budget accordingly but for now Spring is coming get out and enjoy they are truly great cars and if you get stuck the motley crew are always here to help.

Life’s too short not to own a Maserati !
I remember buying my first one very well. A mixture of feelings like a 6 year old on Christmas Day mixed with “what the f*** have I just done” followed by....”but it’s gorgeous...”
Enjoy the car and as others have already said, you couldn’t be in a better place for help and support.
Special shout out to Matt (Conaero on here) and Ash at SportsItalia in Southampton too for a ‘health check’ on your new purchase if you are in that neck of the woods. I highly recommend them.

Welcome! Plunge is about the best way to buy that 1st Mas. A while back a young man I work with found out that I have a Mas. and asked me what owning a car like this was like. I told him " its like a 60 year old man married to a drop dead gorgeous 19 year old stripper, with a bad cocaine habit. Its expensive, at times heartbreaking, and you know it won't end well. But the poor fool lives to be seen with her in public." He laughed, but its true. Enjoy!

Well done and welcome along. Plenty of us on here are 4200 owners, they offer so much bang for buck and aren’t half bad to look at either!
Enjoy!

I have had two 4200 F1 and would certainly have another.
