Flashing displays

OK
I've seen this once before, but at the time I was messing around with by OBDII reader and Torque, so assumed it was that.

Started the car this evening, starts fine, runs fine.
No warning lights at all.
The gear display *and* temperature *and* the horizontal bar flash on and off once per second.
This carried on all the way home. The car was fine, gear shifts were fine both up and down. Sport mode on or off made no difference. Ditto into and out of neutral.
Pulled over about 0.5 miles from home. Shut it down and waited for it all to go dark. Ignition on. Looks normal. Start: 5 very rapid, quite faint beeps (almost like the ice warning). Starts fine. Display normal.
Last mile home is fine as well.
Park up.
Shut it down.
Start it up again. No beeps. Totally normal.

Not overly worried, but any thoughts?
TIA

A similar thing happened to me coming back from goodwood , really annoying if ya giving it some beans and need a quick reference what gear ya in , the only thing I could think off was I was sitting with engine on for quite some time before heading off as I was waiting for some one but as you everything was normal after a shut down and restart. .

So kinda similar to the GT faults but different. I may poss have the solution to all these (I hope) similar'ish problems following some encouraging news late in the day from Owens BUT let's see how it goes before I spill the beans. I hoping that patience and perseverance may have finally paid off here.....

Catman did you resolve your lights issue? I think I have the answer

So.... the GT has been back at Owens for another 3 or so weeks. I told 'em what to check after discussing the issue further with my man @ Autorevive. And.... last week they came back to me saying they 'BELIEVE' they have traced the fault to poor connectors on the C Can wiring loom, and I quote "We have renewed the pins and connector and the warning lights have gone after being there all through our testing of the vehicle."

So the first thing I told them to check when it went back this time, bet it wasn't checked the first, 2nd, 3rd and 4th... poss more times lost count, was the wiring looms and there you go.... it wasn't the 6k +VAT NIT unit they insisted it was last time. They said if it does it again we can only replace the NIT unit as we have checked everything else.....

Now the funny thing is that when this first happened back in the summer and it went in the guy there said I bet it's the Can wire but they then decided it was the ECU box and removed me of £800. Straight away the lights came back on.

So this could be a issue with a lot of the marque's and warning lights so I'd certainly put poor connectors top of things to check on any warning light issues/buzzers from now on all of these vehicles.

So I'm hoping thats it and its fixed!

However small problem, they still have the car after trying to charge me another £400 to resolve the on going and unfixed fault. I've told them this was the original fault that was not fixed and that poss the ECU box, although they are insisting it was necessary, actually wasn't because the lights came back on immediately after it was replaced. SO perhaps they should actually be crediting me the £800 back. Now for some reason I've not had a reply yet, so guess I've got to next Aug it get a suitable conclusion to this.

Roger,
Stand your ground..!! If they insisted that the £800 replacement would cure the problem and it did not, then they should pay for everything therafter to actually do the job they have already been overpaid to do and give you an option to have the new part taken out with a credit to you for the balance, or leave the part in and not charge you anything else..!! Dealers are great at this, just bung a new expensive part in and expect you to sit there mute when it does not cure the problem..!!
Cheers

yep! well I guess we have to see who breaks first. Issue I see from their side, it has to sit in their compound and if they dent the body work then thats even more of a pain for them. We all knwo they have to QC the cars when they arrive, and I only have a little scratch on the NS, so pin dens anywhere.

So they are holding the car until you settle the bill..?? I would let them know that you consider them at fault and you have overpaid already. Also tell them you need your car, so you are going to hire a Supercar and all costs will be charged to them..!! Now I think that such as a Ferrari costs about £1k a week, or not far off, so hopefully this might just push the buttons that you require pushed..!!

Keep pushing them to make a decision mate, ask for the MD's name and contact details and drop him a line, they can't just keep you waiting around until they decide what to do..!!

Roger, if you just sit too long, they will think you are not bothered, harder you push, sooner it will be resolved..!!

Right the cars back! They are saying the 2 issues are kinda related as they sit on the same loom and one was hiding the other so I kinda had to go with what they say as I'm no expert on this car. The C Can connections are inside, well between the inner and outer floor pans so you would have thought they would be protected from the elements but it seems good old Italian electrics never fails to disappoint yet again! They replaced all the connections and sealed the unit so I'm trusting that has put an end to that issue.
