Maybe....why? You got one you're selling?
I have no idea why... had a 1.6 mk1 years ago but it was way too slow. The idea of a 250bhp mk1 makes me laugh

No you are wrong, the MX-5 is the best selling roadster and over a million units have been sold Worldwide and that was in the first 15 years. Pundits laud its handling and fun to drive elements ahead of the rest. Read Nathan’s article in the latest Modern Classic where it beats a German rival. They are just fun cars with great handling and go to show you don’t need a honking great engine with shed loads of power to have fun. They are still used as drift cars and on the technical circuit for exactly that reason. Anyone who slates an MX-5 has either never driven one or is an Idiot, I’m not sure which category you fit in?
Talk about pot calling the kettle.......from the guy who calls people names when he can’t be bothered to read a thread properly first, and is then too arrogant to even acknowledge it.
Apparently everybody’s entitled to an opinion on here.........as long as it agrees with Phil’s which of course is always right.
It may be the best selling roadster of its type and at the price, but it did nothing for me. Sure it drives pretty well, but I’d rather have a Lotus Elise, which would make a MX5 look foolish on any road or track, but also feels feels special and has a far better power to weight ratio.
Agree Elise is a far better car, but I would say that as had a few....great handling, a real event as you say but would also cost you at least 10k more over Phil's. Not sure they are in the same space as an MX5 now.
.Wrong, you just chose not to read the first post before you started playing mr know it all, shouting your mouth off and calling people names.
So you have at least one thing in common with the girls and hairdressers that bought most of those million MX5s.
And I shall continue sharing my opinion whether you like it or not.
Sounds about right. Presumably you’ll scratch my eyes out nextYou can try I’ll just delete your posts or admin will as they see fit.,
We can laugh and joke and take the píss but surely this isn’t worth falling out over...?

Come now people. We can all agree to disagree, otherwise we would all be driving something German!!! Heaven forbid.
I like cars that combine a number of qualities
Look Great
Handle Well
Perform Well
and there are loads that do all three
but the killer is character, they need to have that little bit of magic and IMO this is where the MX5 falls down in spades.
It is designed to look good (ish), handle well (ish) and perform well (ish) but it has no special character. It it a copy of so much that has gone before with nothing really new other, nothing inspirational, nothing that makes me want one - its pastiche, a good one but still a pastiche.
Of course they weren’t, never have been never will a completely different car aimed at track drivers and to be fair are just horrible on the road unless you want to **** blood for a week or two. I ditched my Lotus after six months as it was a Pantomime to get into bad awful build quality and wasn’t suited to the road and have enjoyed MX-5’a since. Last I’m posting on here as the usual suspect always love to weigh in with his opposing opinion.,
