Gas struts on boot

Hi

The boot on my GS doesn't raise automatically when I open and you need to give quite a helping hand, is this how its supposed to be or should it lift up once you have pressed the release?

So question is really do I need to replace the gas struts?

Any advice welcome

Sorry I think thats normal with the struts helping it to stay up or assisting once its almost fully open....ins certainly not a powered motion.
