Fitted a boost gauge and the speed at which it spikes to 15psi gets me concerned does this car have a boost cut standard And at what pressure?
Also noticed what appears to be adjustable height coilovers very dirty so are these a stock item on the 3200gt? Car not handy atm but Think it was eibach from memory
3 weeks of ownership and have fixed stuck handbrake,2 light relays,3 blown fuses and a window regulator , all DIY cause of access to great write ups and forum help best thing u can invest in with these cars is a login account :luvit: thanks to everyone

It would appear the max boost pressure is 15psi! Boost pressure always comes on hard and that's why (some) people like turbo cars. Great on diseasels but highly strung n/a petrols should be the way forward. :D

No 3200GT expert, but would imagine 15psi being about right.
All the turbo cars I have owned, petrol and diesel, have all come up to full boost quickly when they come on boost, that is the point at the end of the day.

Thanks for replies but I was wondering if a Wastegate hose popped off or leaked would a boost/fuel cut safe guard engine?
And also do the 3200gt come with adjustable height coilovers?
Thanks

There are over pressure valves and i agree 15psi seems ok. There is a wastegate too but its very subtle and you don't really hear it much.

Also noticed what appears to be adjustable height coilovers very dirty so are these a stock item on the 3200gt? Car not handy atm but Think it was eibach from memory.
The standard suspension is Ferrari based and has a suspension controller and four adjustable Bilstein shocks, there are small red Ferrari motors on the top of each shock to adjust the damping. This is changed when sport mode is engaged, which stiffens them up a bit, It also adapts the damping to suit the road conditions and your speed. All the shocks are height adjustable but you need to take the spring force off them to change it, and its best done on the bench once you have cleaned up the threads. Be careful as you can get into corner weight problems if you get these mismatched. There are a few variations on setting height, and also some different springs, so make sure you know what you are messing with before making changes here.

Glad the forum is helping you out, and sounds like all minor issues so far, which is unusual! :)

The ECU controls the boost based on parameters from the electronic boost valve. It's all explained in the workshop manual.

And yes all 3200's have adjustable suspension and a large number have the electronic suspension actuators which when in SPORT mode adjust each actuator to dampen body roll, it is really the first incarnation of "Skyhook" fitted first to the 4200.

in regards to your question as if a waste gate pipe or boost pipe popped off would the ecu recognise this and alert you,
the answer is No.
my 2000 model year 3200 did not,
I had a leak in the waste gate diaphragm N/S,this was only evident by a slight air rush heard and accompanied by violent turbo stalling as the boost pressure was equalling the turbine presuure and stalling the compressor,
this can be extremely fatal to the turbo's,

Yep you need to keep an eye and ear out on the 3200 for lack of power, it's quite easy because they are rapid when working right and slow and asthmatic when not! As soon as you put some miles on it your seat dyno (butt) will soon know something is wrong and then you need to act on things very quickly. Part of the reason why driving them daily is best as you are more likely to get things fixed immediately rather than sweeping things under the rug by putting the car back into the garage with annoying niggles.
