Still don't get the comparisons between the Ghibli and 3-series. Comparing with a 5-series yup, 3-series nope. Its like comparing a GTS with a Cayman.

I was glad to get out of both 4-series courtesy cars and back into my Ghibli. From a performance, handling, and sense of occasion point of view. Economy doesn't matter. If it did I wouldn't have bought it.

The handling was a surprise TBH but was based on driving on some back roads in sport in all three cars. Whilst the BMW was good out of corners it felt like it was sitting on top of the road, whereas the Ghibli felt more planted. I do have Skyhook.

I would suggest that the interior space of a Ghibli is closer to a 3 series than a 5 series and the 335d is significantly quicker whilst returning 5 mpg more. Our 335s have had the switchable dampers, which may have influenced my comment on handling and the Gibli I drove handled well enough. I agree that the Maser is more 'individual' but it is not a QPV either.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that the Ghibli diesel is slower and returns worse MPG than a lighter, more powerful, 3-series. Who would have thought that? ;)

I think you'd struggle to load the 3-series in the way you can a Ghibli as well. Still, that's your opinion and we all have them.

I'd agree with Mark, the Ghibli is a 5 series/E-class equivalent and the QP a 7 series/S class. The Alfa Romeo Guilia would be the 3 Series/C class...

Wow, I just checked dimensions! I did not realise quite how large the Ghibli is and 350kg heavier! My perception at the time was that it felt a similar size inside but it is clearly a larger car. I recently went in the very latest 5 series and thought it must be a 7 series so not sure what BMW do to achieve that perception of space!
