Great programme, watched it last night. Sobering stuff...

The Tom Pryce crash - what happened to the kid struck by the car? Nothing about whether he lived or died, thqt impact didn't look survivable though.

Never had a problem with death, seen too much of it in my previous line of work I guess.

You didn't use to be a hit man did you Lewis!?

Used to spend a lot of time in war zones, disputed territories, that sort of thing. Add some heavy machinery to that mentality... well, you soon become immune to it.

i finally watched this last night... unbelievable, i think one of the saddest things coupled with the little safety was that the races weren't stopped? People burning to death or collisions with crowds the deaths the races went on ..- There is no excuse for humanity here...

..... because there wasn't any. It was accepted by most of the drivers of that era, if you drove fast you might get killed and if you did...well, tough. It's much the same at the TT today. However, no one makes them do it and those that do go back every year because they love doing it. Even some of those crippled in TT accidents go back in wheelchairs and help out in the pits because that's what they do. As has been said before; for those that understand, no explanation is needed. For those that don't understand, no explanation is possible.

Makes you appreciate just how badly these guys wanted to go racing. Even today some of them put themselves deep into debt to risk their lives blasting round the island. 37.75 miles on normal roads at an average of 132mph. Madness, but so exciting to watch.

Yep killed instantly but I guess it does not take a genius to work that out from watching the video.

There were a few chilling moments in that but for some reason at around min 3 and 20 the driver that had been burnt alive being pulled from the wreckage somehow made a very uncomfortable connection.

As a CH manager in a BSB team in a past life I have to say " no one makes them do it is not the full story".

A rider can make three years money with a top three finish at the TT the big names can make fortunes. Manufactures could not give a **** for the riders as I have personally witnessed on more that one occasion.

The incentives for riders are so large that they lose sight of just how risky it is. Lads like Guy Martin Adrian Archibald and John Mc love the risk and so keep pushing it just like Dave J but the odds get worse the longer they ride DJ is a case in point.

The only person rider I have seen stand up to the big firms is Jim Moody I witnessed him tell Castrol Honda & Baba Snan (HRC MD) to stick it up their ***! LOL due to a dubious bit of kit that Honda said was fine, NOT.

Leaving teams to deal with the aftermath of a fatal incident including introducing parents to the coroner!

The TT made me give up BSB made me feel sick.

On a foot not to my rambling. I often used the TT corse way to fast and loved it. My favourite place to ride or drive is the Nurburgring Nordschliefe but that is a choice I make with no fiscal prod in the back.

Peter the paradox!
