Gransport running well now! Wheel Alignment, Tyre Pressure, ARB Linkages etc

So, my GS was in for last of the niggles.

Today I had ARB Linkages (Fronts) changed, Superformance parts & 1 hour labour - very pleased has made a difference to handling. This wasn't the knocking sound I don't think though!! Im sure there is sometimes a knock in the roof (is this possible??!!!). Anyway - I am going to try to ignore that until after my holiday!

Had wheel alignment done on a Hunter, they could do fronts only as back seized (they had to borrow a spanner from garage next door as nut so big?!) still couldn't undo it so gave up. To be fair I didn't want them to do any damage so said don't bother. They did fronts using GS data. Amazing to watch on the screen in waiting room.

They did tyre pressures too (Loz's TP advice on other forum) and checked all the wheel bolt torques just incase and a fresh set of wiper blades.

All of this combined has transformed the ride from mushy (and a bit worrying/swervy) to rock solid and safer feeling.

There is a very very slight throttle lag, certainly in sports but maybe this is normal?

I also noticed that when I started her up after being on the Hunter (in Sports) it sounded like a "weak" start, low volume and like battery was a bit low. It is CTEKed every night but doesn't really need it. It could have been the acoustics in the unit I suppose.

Can valves get stuck or something? Sometimes sports is loud sometimes not depending on speed/revs....

I'm probably just green.

Loving the car now though!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS The front alignment was off the scale which probably explained the mushiness and judder - does it get knocked out of alignment over time i.e. how often should I get it checked?

I've (touch wood) got a sorted car now!

I had a long chat about the car with another guy waiting - he was really interested in the car - never had that.

Then my best friends Dad walked in and chewed my ear for a while about the car too! They don't do that about my pickup!!!

Mine is the same, sometimes it doesn't blip on start up, although there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I've stopped worrying about it.

The rear toe link bolts are properly tight, they seemed to have an excess of thread lock at the factory and used it all there. It took the weight of the car to crack mine.

Have a good look at your bushes, if they aren't new they may well be ripe for a change at 70k. Mine were quite baggy at 50k.

The alignment makes a massive difference doesn't it

Mine took 'quite a lot' of heat. That was last year. I wonder if they'd ever been adjusted.

Its only done the weak start thing once - today. I'm not too worried if its not engine issue or whatever.

Is the bushes a big job? I did get some advice in another thread but I am quickly having to learn about mechanics and not fully up to speed with underneath the car. A lot of what I was told in other thread I didn't understand (sorry to that poster!). Could you roughly outline for an idiot what the job entails and what parts you need?

Alignment = HUGE difference
