...or just a fleeting visit?

So what are your plans, are you still gunning for a GS Adam, and when?

Beau has been in a 3200 for a couple of years now and he is a young'n, 20 I think?

You have obviously looked at insurance, when do you think your age will bring it down?

Job, how's that going, and what are you doing?

I would have thought the insurance to be virtually impossible, unless you pay a mortgage amount per month.
However a 10 year plus 4200/3200 on a classic policy if you are over 25 years old would be possible at reasonable cost maybe.

Beau do tell us how you insure your 3200 because my 22 year old pays a crazy amount for his Honda Civic Vtech.

My motor trade insurer won't let my son drive on my policy anything tasty. I would think he is chancing his luck myself. I have had my existing policy for over 20 years and you might be so lucky making a claim involving super cars. Probably satisfies the law just about 3rd party.

Yeah...insurance companies will null and void any dubious policies if not up front..........plus ruins your NCB for decades after....;)

FWIW Felice says he's the only person allowed to drive my 4200 on the company trade policy

Here to stay Matt, here to stay.

Plans........ realistically i want a GS before i i purchase a house, the plan is to buy one and live the dream for 12-18 months and then sell for something called a Mortgage ? i dont know what that is but i dont like the sound of it from what my dad was telling me. It would be a dream to have both but realistically 20k on a GS (i am not sure they will lose much more in the next 5 years) and a house deposit is in the region of 45k unless i look into these 10% deposit mortgages which i believe are floating around.

Touch-wood at 25 i will have 5 years NCB and would possibly look at a modern classic policy with classic line (i know a guy who is insuring a track prepared 1998 BMW 328 for £800 at 21) but i will cross that bridge when i come to it.

Job is going well, i have nearly completed my qualification, originally i was due to complete in Feb 2014 when my contract is finished but i am hopefully going to be completed by the end of October giving me that bit of time to job hunt. I am quite sure i will be kept on but i fancy a change so will see how things pan out.......

Phil, no i have not found my way into my friend's mum, unfortunately i don't see her that often as my friend is at University now so only see her when he is back from Uni.

A Gransport is still top of the tree along with 2 other cars i desperately want but owning a Maserati is something special; loved the Gransport ever since it came out, remember seeing a Blu Victory Coupe around 2006 and fell in love with it; stunning stunning car, just needs a Larini and de-cat :D

Adam...nice to have you back in the fold.

Great to see a young man with both a plan and a passion, as ever its all down to blood, sweat and tears to achieve the things on your (sous-25 yrs old) bucket list.

Hoping it all comes good and enjoy the intervening years and the hunt

I always told myself i must own a fast or very special car before the "grown up" life begins, i.e; house, marriage, kids etc......

The son of a friend did that, he got himself a 135i and had it chipped to stage one. Very quick and he loved it, but I think he now regrets the money he blew on it. His mortgage is a lot more than it would have been and he will spend a long time getting it back. They wisdom comes with age.......

I would hopefully be able to run a GS for 12-18 months and hopefully not lose anything, maybe 1k. A 135i is a fairly new run of the mill car (i don't mean it is a bad car but it is not a special car like a Maser) so it will lose a substantial amount in its first 5 years of life.

...the thing to look out for Adam...is a big bill or two.....can completely hamstring you...........so loosing £1k is the least of your worries

Exactly. I'll tell you now, a year of ownership of a GS will cost you more than 1k. Servicing, fuel, tax, insurance, and that's not allowing for any unforeseen problems. If one of those hits you, you are going to need a fairly big war chest. Forewarned is forearmed. Be very careful.
