Hi,

I am having very dusty wheels after a short drive and I was thinking are there any suggestions for alternative brake pads for the 4.2 other than OEM?

Pads with ceramic inside?

Open for suggestions.

Cheers, Jeroen

This pad as above for the 4.2 has a cutout for the brake sensor, but the HAWK HB545Z.564 (correct part for the 4.2) below hasnt:

Anyone on here with Hawk experience without the sensor? @Zep @Ebenezer ? I could just go with them and when brake pads run out/low they start squealing quite a bit, correct?

No experience except that I believe that the 4.2 rotors are smaller than the 4.7 (at least that is the case for the QP 4 pot vs 6 pot). So as Zep says if you've got 4 pots then the Hawk may not fit if its for the 6 pot. I've got yellowstuff on the fronts (which are dusty) and that doesn't have the brake sensor which I presume will have been neatly clipped out of the way.

Ebc red stuff are supposed to be low dust when I was looking for replacements, but I have no experience as I sold the car before changing.

Pads which squeal when they are low normally have a metal piece which contacts the disc to make the noise, so I’d say that these won’t squeal when low. So you’ll have to look at them or wait for the grinding noise.

For wear sensors, they can be tied back and won’t give a light as long as they aren’t already damaged.

The new pad drawing looks a lot better for the 330mm brakes.
