Was thinking billet aluminium or titanium but I hadn't considered the RF issue - and it would be an issue. How about carbon fibre?
Oh yes *PLEASE*
Or how about burl walnut?

eBay key fob looks identical to my original in the picture.

Can't mill CF on a CNC though!

Use something else then. No, if CF, I'd have to farm it out to a CF prototyping outfit
The key doesn't transmit. They have an induction coil around the ignition that reads the transducer inside the key. If it is a key issue message Nick at the remotefobcentre on ebay. Very good and can test, repair and will likely have a new pcb if needed.Swapped the known working battery, same.
The car actually beeps when you put the battery into the key, in a kind of acknowledgy way.
I was under the impression the key has to ‘transmit’ to the immobiliser to start the car? That could’ve been a dream though.
I’m starting to think there could be a physical issue inside the fob. The car definitely seems to ‘know’ the key.
