Hello,

Just bought myself a 2008 Maserati Gran Turismo so thought I'd sign up to the forum as I know that these places are a plethora of information. Previously had a Jaguar XFS and was a member of their forum and found it invaluable when looking for information.

Quite pleased with the car so far - a couple of things I need to look at: dashboard makes a rattling noise above the sat nav screen (might experiment with some blue tack) and also need to replace the wheel centres as they look like they've seen better days (probably some wheel acid).

Cheers

Welcome Steve. Sounds like I lovely car. People will want pictures :)

I *seem* to recall that there was some issue with the GT dashes rattling, but I can't afford one so may not have paid as much attention as to other topics :) *Personally* I'd steer clear of Blu-tak. It goes very soft in heat (like a car in the sun) and the solvents would, I expect, leech into whatever substrate you stuck it to.

Your call, of course!

Welcome Steve, you have bought yourself a great car. Haven't had any dashboard noise issues with mine. I guess you didn't buy from an AD with warranty or they should sort that for you. If you are struggling with it, might still be worth having a word with a friendly AD to see if they can shed any light based on their experience. James Humberstone at Graypaul Nottingham is just such a chap.

I remember being told that the wheel centre caps are actually relatively cheap for Maserati parts, so hopefully not an expensive cosmetic fix.

Hello again,

Thanks for the warm welcome - I will take some pictures as soon as we get some sunny weather and post them for all to see.

I bought the car from an independent specialist dealer (sells Ferrari, Astons, Bentley and Maserati as well as some classics) so they threw in a 6 month warranty. I've already had two new rear tyres out of them and am awaiting news on the front tyres which have cracking inbetween the treads. I think I might need to pay them a visit regards this rattling dash - it's just the plastic trim that sits between the top of the dashboard and the sat nav, glove box etc. I only notice it when I turn the radio off to listen to the engine... :mock8:

It definitely puts a smile on my face every time I drive it - can't think of any other cars I've had that have done that - the 385bhp Jaguar XFS (diesel!) came close but certainly didn't have the same exhaust note!

Can't wait for those sunny days!

Cheers

Steve

Welcome, the wheel centres are a known Maserati problem. I've had my car nearly 2.5 years and some of mine are either the 2nd or 3rd set.

As for the tyres, front tyres will crack as they last forever as long as the tracking is ok. As for the rear tyres, they only last 6-8000 miles!

Rob...the 911 I had was down to the bars after 4K miles!.....no tyre spinning either....need to check treadwear rating of the tyres you buy

4K, that's ridiculous, I have never had a tyre wear so much so fast, on any car..!!
