GTS Battery Disconnection/Reconnection

Hi all. I need to disconnect and then obviously later reconnect the battery on my 2009 Granturismo S. Will I need to enter any type of security code into the radio/multi media system, or anything similar? Where will I find such codes if needed? I cannot find anything in the paperwork/bookwork I got with the car. Or is it a case of simply reconnecting the battery and waiting for it all to power/boot up again?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

well, you'll likely have to do the lock / unlock dance to get the trunk to work, and possibly the seat reset, but no radio codes.

make sure to test your cable release before disconnecting to avoid a trunk-won't-open surprise.

Also, please wait 10 seconds between turning the ignition on and starting the engine - this allows the motor driven throttle body time to calibrate.

EDIT: Only after a battery reset. Normal starting just twist and go...

Voicey,

At the risk of sounding stupid; clearly I need to remove only one battery connection. Which one?

Thx

As said above, the negative terminal is the one to go for. I have a selection of plastic caps that I put over the terminal to prevent accidental re-connection but you can tuck the cable away or cover the terminal with a bit of tape.

All of the above and don't be surprised if it takes a while for the electric door handles to 'relearn' their roles.

Plug the battery then turn the ignition on for 15 seconds (don't start).

start the car and let it idle for 25 seconds without touching anything.

This procedure will calibrate everything, and you are good to go.

doors electric lock and trunk electric lock will work after you start driving and the car auto locks.

all the best

Thanks for all the replies and advice. Fortunately I didn't need to disconnect the battery. I thought I might have to to clear an error showing up on the display re an EPB Failure, and being unable to release the EPB. I got it released manually but electrically no joy. Thanks to another thread I found out that battery voltage plays a part in these alarms showing up. So connected up the CTEK and sure enough the voltage in the battery was in its boots. Charged up overnight and all working as it should and 'EPB Failure' warning gone.

As an aside....I like how for the EPB Failure warning, the handbook says to slowly drive to your dealer. Well for me, when your nearest dealer is 100 ish miles away, that advice is a little nonsense!

If you have to release the EPB manually I thought that was back to the dealer for a reset?

Yes I thought I may have to do that. But seems not. The 'special' tool from the toolkit wouldn't budge the stuck on EPB, so I disassembled the EPB ECU and freed it manually by removing the motor and rotating the cog using a screwdriver. Once the battery was fully charged, I re-engaged the EPB by manually rotating the cog again, reassembled the EPB ECU, powered up and function tested. All worked fine and alarm gone.

Interesting. I suspect that *might* need a reset somewhere along the line but it's something of a guess!
