My 2012 GTS also has grooved and drilled disks, it has only done 6k miles so I would imagine that they are still original. It has the MC Suspension and carbon aero packs.

The first owner clearly went to town with the price list!

It is an ex demonstrator and the specification was chosen by the Sales Director of the dealer that I bought it from, he made some very good choices.
My car has the same brakes that FF1078 has on his car, I wonder if they were part of the MC package?

If you take a look here, this one has the carbon packs but the brakes are not uprated:

I know mine has 2 carbon options, pack 1 and 2
The one you showed the link for Bigbob doesn't have the carbon mirrors or door handles and mine does but I dont think this has anything to do with the brakes. I think you maybe right about the grooved brakes being an option though. I'm going to try and get the original build sheet from the supplying dealer to see if that will bring anything up.

The grooved/drilled discs were fitted as part of the MC Set Up pack along with different springs/dampers. I think fitted as standard on all GTS models now. Don't think they make any difference other than probably being more expensive to replace! If you have the MC Set Up your springs will be red (Eibach I think) and dampers black with red MC Sport in big letters down the length of them, also ride height is 10mm lower.

I'm away from home so don't have the exact prices with me but if memory serves me correctly front discs and pads are circa £1500 (incl VAT) but perhaps Giallo can clarify?

Just checked and Giallo are a bit cheaper than that. £1,320 for discs and pads (parts).

I'm also looking at replacing the discs and pads. Here's the approximate prices found so far:

Main Dealer Price
Front Discs and Pads - £2325
Rear Discs and Pads - £1680

DIY:
Eurospares - Front Disc Set £1210 inc VAT.
Various - Front Pad Set - Yellow Stuff (£110)
Eurospares - Rear Disc Set £500 inc VAT.
Various - Rear Pad Set - Yellow Stuff (£130)
Total: £1950

FD Kit - £2,100 for entire kit (4x Discs with pads. Also includes uprated brake fluid, break lines etc). Single buy: Discs are £600 each and pads are £550 for the full set.

Fitted:
Giallo - £2,400 - Full discs and pad replacements. Special mention: Future discs can be replaced at £200 a pop which is obviously a significant saving....recommend having a chat with Giallo about this...

Still weighing up options at the mo....I wouldn't mind getting a second opinion. As my MOT is due next month I may wait to see where/if it fails before deciding which way to go.

The EBC Yellow Stuff does seem to get good feedback on this forum and may (you would have to confirm with EBC) be ECE R90 compliant (ie: road legal in the EU).

Another possibility is exploring the OEM route. I have been looking into the front pads so the following information is about those. You cannot source the OE Brembo front pads from anyone other than Maserati (for circa £800). As mentioned in the alternative parts page, the shape of the Mercedes CLK 63 AMG front pads appear to be the same to the Maserati GTS' front pads (FMSI: D116-8222). The Mercedes uses a Brembo 6 pot caliper brake system (as does the Maserati). The Mercedes front pad part no is 005-420-39-20. Something I have not been able to work out is if the compound on the Mercedes pad is the same as the Maserati one - does anyone know or have a view on this? If so, a significant saving can be made as OEM Mercedes pads should be a lot cheaper.

I believe Ferodo and Pagid do fronts with the correct shape too (though ECE R90 compliance would have to be checked for road legality).
