The Wera kit is excellent, but super pricey.

A good middle of the road is Bahco, had one of these for years, solid as a rock and pretty much all the sockets you’ll ever need.

good set that and always carry it in the boot just in case

I bought a Halfords 150 piece set about 10 years ago and it’s been great. I don’t think you can beat it for the money. I’ve added bits as I’ve gone along. Down from £170 to £120 at the moment.

Same here. Obviously mine doesn't get the use that a mechanics set would, but it's still going strong.

I have a fair bit of **** and some Snap On stuff but am looking to sort out in the new year, the Halfords pro stuff is pretty good the modular storage trays make storage in the toolbox efficient.

As an aside does anyone know where you can get empty storage trays as I would like to Standish storage for the existing stuff I have

Ok I did take in my Halfords Pro socket set from the mid 90’s and they swapped out all the broken bits. Gobsmacked!

I use them everyday and they go missing and end up on ‘Snap On’ Ashley’s cart.

Ashley has all Snap On and says the Halfords is descent and all tools break. He has loads of busted Snap On.

So it’s about easy and warranty and I don’t think you can go wrong with Halfords.

So, I will be taking my old tools home and buying all Halfords Pro again as I can jump in the car, drive 10mins and get it replaced on the spot.

They also have started doing these modular foam trays which are a great idea for rollcabs.

I also have some Teng and other Japanese tools and are excellent too.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

Halfords pro. The gift that keeps on giving :D

The only time they will reject swapping a broken part out is if it has rusted. So as long as you dont leave the set out in the rain then they are an eternal set of tools.

I bought a Halfords Pro roller cab a few years back and added a few spanners including Halfords ratchet rings. Just doing one job on the GT last year was payback. Restoring the Kawasaki means I can buy more...in man maths terms.

My 1/2" drive socket set was my late fathers, think its Draper, never broken a socket but have had to replace ratchet, my 3/8"-1/4"set is Kamassa, bought I think when I was about 18, so over 40 years ago, never broken any of it, not occasional use either as I have always done all my own repairs.

That rang a bell with me, my Dad used to have some Bahco tools.
Now part of same group as snap on and "mainly made in Europe". Might be a good second set.
