I was window shopping on AT this morning and this popped up on the screen probably based on my Maserati history;

Suggests they are struggling to sell and/or they are starting overpriced. It cannot be good for resale values!

There are some great deals to be had at the moment and the main dealers are eager to get sales in to make up for their massive losses this financial year

Problem is I do not think Maserati's current offer is very exciting when stacked up next to the competition... That is on paper and in person

Hoping that changes with the new GT and MC20

That’s cracking value, and a lot of brand new Maser for only £63k. Bargain. Even a bottom spec Rangie would be at least £20k more.

I was shocked when Motorline were offering £14,500 discount in March 2020 pre-pandemic:

No surprise then that the discount is now £25k. I doubt too many of these have been sold in the last 12 months.

How many times have we been told that for a particular manufacturer to survive or thrive they need to have a SUV in their line up? Bentayga, Urus, Cayenne, DBX.

Why is the Levante not selling better? Too similar to the Stelvio? Is a V6 not considered special enough?

That’s my local dealer, always been treated well there and on my 4th car from them, speak to Damian.

Levante drives really well but it really is an inverse tardis sort of thing, can’t believe how little room there is in the back and the boot. I know as I tried to move my daily driver onto one a few years back.

Porsche Macan

Hate to say it but they are dominating this sector for very good reason. I was recently in the market and I was only tempted away by a BMW Alpina

Dealers discount means you loose your shirt in 24 months and service is off the scale for those who are used to a BMW service plan... not to mention poor MPG and a dated design at launch.

Arrived too late to get a foothold in the segment just as people are moving to AC/DC

To be honest, even at the discounted price, I’d still prefer a stelvio QF. Or even a veloce actually.
It’s a difficult sell to get someone to buy an Italian SUV at the best of times, but when the cheaper Alfa alternative is better in nearly every way, it’s a struggle to justify.

I have driven the Stelvio Veloce as I had one as a service loaner a while back and it did drive well for what it is... not as nice inside as the Levante but not too shabby for the $$$. IMO the Stelvio is better looking than the Levante but I don't think that is difficult as pretty much most premium SUV's are. Yes the Porker is a weapon in pumped versions and has the edge but that is also no beauty queen. IMO the only decent looking SUV is the Velar.. apart form bargain basement entry models that look just plain unfinished.

Is not the Macan the natural competitor for the Grecale?

But it does seem there is not much love here for the Levante and if Maserati can't attract existing fans of the marque, it doesn't bode well.

Yes but the Cayenne is larger than the lavente (?)

I like the idea of having a trident as a daily and another as my weekend/special occasion car but the reality is that the diesel engine is not up to scratch against the Germans and the petrol is too thirsty to be practical (for me anyway). Plus depreciation, stupid parts prices and a shrinking dealer network will put most sensible people off.

This decade will be interesting for the brand with this Stellantis takeover and Maserati being the top level offer in the group. Will we see dealerships evolve with Maserati sharing the same roof as other Stellantis brands such as Alfa Romeo, Peugeot or DS?

They would have to offer much more discount before I would be tempted, short of the Rolls 4x4 that are high on the ugly scale IMO
