Evening Peeps,

Another long-time lurker here whose been toying with the idea of Maserati ownership for some time. Well, that all changed after I made the fatal petrolhead mistake of going to Maranello Egham 'Just to Look' a couple of weeks back. Things inevitably snowballed and i'm now due to collect my first Maserati this weekend.

I've been looking at a few cars recently that included the Maserati GranTurismo, Bentley Continental, Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera. I guess you can tell from that list I was looking for something with 4 useable seats as I want my family to be able to enjoy the experience too.

Pretty much dismissed the Porsche straight away, just couldn't get past the looks. Bentley was too 'bling', Aston was lovely but too small in the back despite the 5m+ length of the thing. The Maserati was always the favourite and ticked all the boxes for me. After test driving one it was pretty much a done deal, the overall package of noise, style and elegance, decent pace, noise, space and did I mention the noise, pushed the decision over the line.

Mixed emotions presently, the wait until the weekend now will be painful. I'm pretty excited but must admit to some trepidation at the ownership prospect of something Italian and exotic.

So the car in question is as follows (main points):

2014 Maserati GranTurismo V8 Sport 2dr MC Auto Shift
Nero Carbonio
Nero Leather with Alcantara Inserts in Seats, Rosso Stitching / Trident Stitched Head Restraints
Matte Black Look Headlights
Glossy Black Neptune Wheels
Red Brake Calipers
Grigio Dark Chrome Internal Trimming

Yep, thats a lot of black going on but combined with the red highlights that strike through at various points looks pretty amazing. Photos to follow.

Thank for reading and roll on the weekend!

Had mine for nearly 4 weeks. First few days were odd - never owned anything like this and was scared to breath on it. It just gets better and better!

Fantastic - well done Serkie, and sounds like a fantastic car... as you know I'm only a week or so ahead of you in terms of owning a Maserati, and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

Thanks chaps. Look forward to sharing more once the keys are in hand but until then, here's a cheeky teaser of the unprepared car.

Welcome to the fold, another new owner with an MC Autoshift, they seem to be very popular. Of the cars you mention, it's the prettiest too. The Panamera and Rapide are just stretched versions of their coupes, the GTS still has superb lines and just looks right, I'm sure you'll love the ownership experience too.

Evening All :)

What a fantastic day!

Absolutely great service from Maranello Egham, can't fault them. As for the car, it's a bit special. Early days yet but initial impressions after 60 miles in it today are very positive. I really like the way it feels on the road, looks, goes and of course sounds. I'm made up. :D

Few pictures from handover, not the best quality photos but gives you an idea. She's on a 64 plate, 7K miles so pretty mint.

Thanks Jon, Tridents are also one of my favourite features. The alcantara inserts and really comfy too.

Hope things are going well with your lovely machine. :)
