Hi all
I'm hoping to buy a 4200 coupe or a gransport in the near future but know very little about what to look for when buying one. Are there any independent mechanics in melbourne that you guys would trust to look over a car in order to give the green light on cars I may look at?
If there are any members here that can give me ANY advice on what to look for I would be grateful.
I'm in the western suburbs but happy to travel if need be.

I had not thought about importing a vehicle. I was under the impression that the imported ones had rust issues?
I'm assuming importing them is a cheaper option? How much would one save going down this path on say a 2005-2007 gransport?
How long does the process take from the time a vehicle is sourced?

Thanks Geoff ,
Adam is putting the list together so I haven't actually received it yet. I was just thrilled to get lightning fast responses from you guys. Did you import a car through Dicky grace?

-yes cheaper but differential getting closer as UK prices seem to be creeping up and ours still dropping

-Go to the OZ section, think i posted an import calculator. this will give u a pretty good indication of final cost, add approx $10k aud for local compliance
or a quick way is GBDprice/ fx rate *1.3 + 10k (1.3 cover local import taxes)
ie say (gbd25000/.64 *1.3)=50,000+10,000 = 60000aud then check on carsales.com.au for local ricing

-time to locate and ship, guess 2 months

Hi,
I recently brought in a 3200 from the UK, and whilst it was a bit cheaper, the big difference is choice. The number of cars for sale in the UK means that with a little patience you can find exactly the combination of interior and exterior and get a car that is in excellent condition. I also used Richard Grace to source my car and can thoroughly recommend him. Rust will not be a problem because the car that you buy will have been well looked after and stored undercover.
Good luck, it is worth the wait to get a good one.

Hi

Have friends in Melbourne. Say they see a few GranTurismos now and then - school drop off et al - but cannot believe what they cost locally.

I only know of one of our members in Oz who dealt with a small rust problem and that was on an Australian delivered car. ....:) but he's a perfectionist. Seriously though, as someone has already posted rust is not a issue with these cars.

No , as a regular visitor to the UK I was able to look at a few cars and I was lucky enough to find one I liked whilst I was there. If it hadn't worked out that way then Dicky would have got the job of finding me one.
