I checked out Ants show, in which he build this replica, some time ago. I'm pretty sure it was based on an MG chassis with an alfa engine. I believe he must be involved in some way with the firm that's produced the kit using mx 5 bits. The original build was tricky with the engine being set at an angle to enable the prop shaft etc to locate to one side. Just vague recollections really. I must admit it looks great and I'm now thinking of perhaps getting an Austin 7 Ulster or similar. Charming and fun! Not as quick though!
I would love a Austin 7 Special.
Did a lot of work on a 7 about 10 years ago for an old boy and really enjoyed working on it.

Yeah, its a funny one really. Not with maser at the moment. I ended up with a sensible W205 C63 for family duties. However I find myself thinking of something slower, with character for just enjoying a wee run about. With the roads being as bad as they are, going fast is really not possible - so why did I buy the Merc?! It makes the daily drudge more doable I guess.

This is my mate’s,
83019

built by his friend John Miles, who sadly died a couple of years ago.
83018

Nick Mason has John’s other A7, which I really should have bought instead of the Vette but that’s another story!

Having driven the whole of NZ twice once in a Classic Mini Cooper and a V8 Range Rover there is something nice about small, quirky and interesting cars going slower.
Probably why I like my Renault 4 so much here in France.

I always liked chucking classic Fiat 500's sideways flat out at 50'ish great fun!

James Hunt always said driving his A35 van around London at 60 was better fun than any GP!
