Hit a deer

Unfortunately I hit a deer with my Granturismo Sport, luckily I was going slow and the damages to the car body are an easy repair (bumper and hood are cracked/scratched but repairable), but the very sad thing is that both headlights are broken:as005:
Now I'm looking on some online parts seller and they're priced at around €2.500 each...this is totally unacceptable to me and for no reason I'll put €5.000 in a pair of spare headlights.
Suggestions? Do you know of some not-official headlights for the Granturismo? My model is the one bith black interior and white stripe on the sides (not orange)
Thanks

Have you checked what your insurance will pay?

5k for headlights …Feck me that is taking the rise. Save the cost and just drive in the day. Surely someone out there can do them cheaper than that. Feel for you.

That is scary the incident and the cost.
We had one run across the road in front of us in the XJ6 last weekend in Brittany.
Beautiful looking animal that just made it.
Certainly made myself and Ms French jump.

feel for you, that is one hefty bill! as suggested, check insurance cover..........unless your excess is 5k too of course ;)
unfortunately, we are moving into the time of year when the A9 comes close to being an obstacle course with the beggers coming down from the hills to feed, particularly at twilight times of sunset and sunrise......

Those are pre-facelift sadly.

There are quite a few variations of the facelift headlight, but only related to the colour finish of them (albeit the my don’t have the yellow lenses). If buying a facelift matching pair, it’s not a major issue if they aren’t identical to the ones you have now, as they all look good. Check EBay as sets do come up for sale from time to time

The key is all pre-facelift have yellow indicators and post are clear, plus post facelift have DRLs and so wiring will be different.

Plus when you come to sell, if the buyer knows their onions, they will know there is a rabbit (or Deer) away somewhere.

Your insurance should cover this. Not that many years ago a square block of metal, think something like an engineers block weight a hefty amount, flew off the back of a flatbed truck, struck my car right on the A pillar, 10cm or so to the side and up and I was a goner. But insurance sorted the repairs out. The truck was nowhere to be seen.

And as a daft question, can’t they be had as new from a dealer surely they ain’t that much that’s ridiculous

They are £1930 on Scuderia Car Parts, so about 2300 Euro. They might offer a discount if you ask nicely, but it won’t make a big dent in it.

will check, thanks for the advice.

Insurance will pay NOTHING, because the road had a signal that means 'beware of crossing animals', so according to our (stupid) laws in case you hit an animal it's totally your fault. You should stop, call the Police, and then you probably get a ticket because you was not careful enough and killed an animal...crazy. To avoid this I just skipped over without calling the police (the deer went out of the road after the crash, probably dead, so it wasn't a danger for other cars coming).

Couldn’t you just now say you crashed into a bush at a different location?

That‘s a lot of does, my sympathies.
More seriously, is there a polycarbonate option?

That makes no sense - if you have fully comprehensive insurance surely this is a valid claim -
After-all hitting an animal can write a car off, none of us could afford to drive our cars if hitting a animal was counted as an uninsured loss.

Crikey, that doesn’t look like fun at all!
