This is one of the reasons why my Lotus doesn't have a front plate!
And why I never bothered replacing the front plate on my 1st GT when I knocked it off, that and the fact that it looked better without one.

It's things like this that fuel my urge to move to the outback of Australia and live my life in peace.... and the fact that they have no speed limit in the Northern Territory!

two things spring to mind:
1. a point raised by Clarkson a while back filming several taliban in a car with rocket prepeled granade launchers hanging out of the windows driving past a camera keeping to the speed limit
2. even more accidents as people would be even keener to tailgate lorries and other vehicles trying to obscure their number plate

I can feel a revolution coming allong.....

..........you're not doing a Dem, Miles....as in thread drifting.....................;)....?

Sorry P, should have elaborated perhaps?

There are some very nice paintball 'markers' available now. They have a good range and are really quite accurate, particularly with a scope, and perhaps an aiming stand.

Now should you find yourself in need of some practice, and let's imagine your favourite practice area is at the side of a major motor route that's (apparently) undergoing repair, and maybe you spot a scraggy old raven sat atop some sort of structure, perhaps within the perimeter of your practice area, perhaps not? Obviously you'd want to scare off the said raven and so a few practice shots would be forgiven. Sadly even the best scopes need some sighting adjustment, so it wouldn't be at all surprising if three or four shots landed a little low.

Point-to-point have their place (i.e. through roadworks where poeple are actually working). Putting them across the whole country, IMO, is a massive step to far and a HUGE infringement of personal freedom.

I accept speeding is against the law but that law is put in place to stop poeple driving dangerously and preserve life. How does this system do this? It doesnt police speed in a sensible manner and IMO its a sledge hammer to smash a nut. The key is education. Use a similar system to nick people who are middle lane mororns, people who tailgate, etc, doing it purely for average speed not taking account of road conditions (weather/weight of traffic) is taking away the ability of someone to make good driving decisions.

What I mean by this is; it could be foggy, icy, on a very busy road and you're driving in the outside lane, 2ft from the car in front at 69mph.....thats fine by these cameras. Drive 80 on a quiet, clear road at 5am on a clear warm and dry sunny summers morning and you're nicked.

Pathetic and will not get the buy-in of any sensible person. Who thinks this is a good idea and a worthwhile system, short of revenue generation?
