How many miles did your brakes last?

Hi Everyone

I am picking up my GT's MC Shift on Saturday so needless to say I'm pretty excited.
I have covered pretty much every possible questions when it comes to these cars so am comfortable with what I am getting myself into in terms of maintenance costs etc.
Clutch wear is at 35% so no issues there.
The brakes have just been serviced and cleaned by Greypaul and are supposedly 'good to go' but I don't know how many miles I should expect out of them. The car has 14,000 miles on it and I presume it still has the original brakes on it. I have heard some people putting new brakes on at 20k miles and some people at 60k miles. Obviously this is massively dictated by driving style, (I am a very chilled driver, not one for speed really)
Would be great to hear from people and how many miles they got / are still getting out of them. As I am aware when the brakes need changing it can be a bit of a pants down situation.

Any input or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hard to say. My car is on 30,000 miles and they have up to 10,000 miles left I would guess looking at pad depth. I am not sure whether you would get away with just pads on a change or whether it's discs and epb shoes too.

FWIW the only guaranteed expensive things on these cars are years 4 & 8 services and brakes. After that it all depends if things like the info screen or a/c fail. Take a look at maseratilife.com for comment from more GranTurismo owners.

Thanks for the answer. That seems reasonable getting 40k out of a set.
I managed to get Greypaul to throw the 4 year service in for free with the buying price of the car so don't have to concern myself with that cost which is great. It seems the general perception of 'Oh maseratis are an absolute money pit' is quite distorted from the actually truth as I have spoken to lots of people who have owned GT's for years without massive ridiculous bills.
I guess if you buy one thats due a 4 year service, a new clutch and new brakes then you are going to be down some serious money but if bought correctly I think (hope) these cars can be enjoyed without throwing money at them left, right and centre.

Forgot the clutch, mine is an auto.

Most perceptions of cars are of previous models and that is the very much the case with Maserati. The GranTurismo is a reliable car but the electronics are a bit old and servicing and maintenance is still over priced. Still it's worth it!

In instances like this I think it's always good to go back to basics. Yes its a maserati yes its a performance car. But at the end of the day brakes are brakes. Id always work to rule of thumb 2 sets of pads to a disc but I broke that rule on my M3 by doing lots of long journeys over 5.5 years whereby the brakes were hardly touched.

I've already noticed the pads on the front of mine are probably at 25% ish so I'll get a close look at the discs and decide whether to go for full replacement or just pads for now.

It's 100% true for any wear and tear item regardless of car type that driving style rules the roost.

If you do a few track days and it is a big temptation in these cars, you can fry a set of brakes in a day pushing hard..!! at a guess I would say around 30K miles a set for most people with a brisk driving style, not pads though..!!
