Hunter Alignment Done...

Took my Coupé over to Elite Wheels & Tyres in Reading this morning to get the wheels aligned on their Hunter DSP600.

They said the caster isn’t adjustable and that the camber needs specialist shims to adjust... Is that correct?

Here’s the before and after:

Shims are needed, but I can't recall if they are camber of caster :(

Looks, to my uneducated eye, that they did a pretty good job

Wonder when they last had the level checked. Be interesting to get it on someone else’s and see if their’s is 15 minutes out of level.

It’s shims with everything really.

Front Camber - shaped shims that go between the upper ball joint and the wishbone

Rear camber - adding or removing shims on the mountings for the fork which holds the wishbone inner link.

Front and rear caster - moving shims between the bushes and the subframe can allow some adjustment by moving the suspension mountings forward or backward.

It was nice of them to pump your tyres up. But it should be 29 psi all round unless you are going for top speed runs.

Thanks Zep,

I'll drop the pressure's back down to 29psi :)

Are the shims specific to the car or fairly universal?

They suggested I'd need to go to a Mas specialist to get it done, but I guess if the specialist doesn't have decent alignment tools, how are they going to know how much (or little) to add?

The front camber are a special shape, the rest are just different thickness washers with a slot in them.

Have a look at
