I’m at Varano Circuit driving this GT4MC today...

Hahaha very stylish.

That really does sound like an incredible way to end a holiday to Italy... bit more of an event than merely visiting the factory (although they are not open for tours at the moment anyway). The car sounds great, was the driver coaching any good?

Who did you organise it through, was it Maserati themselves?

Yes long time indeed mate, must admit that I lost your number a while ago when my phone broke and not all my contacts were backed up. Hopefully we can meet up again in the Spring

Yes, this was one of their organised days, although this was a one off “Goodbye Granturismo” type deal. Only got an invite because I bought something once from the online Maserati store and they registered that I own a GTS, which seemed to be a pre-requisite to begin with but I think they threw it open to everyone eventually...

Coaching was quite good although the language barrier made it a bit tricky... Must have worked though, see post below.....

Hopefully I can get to a meet next year, although I bailed out of London and live in Wilmslow now so no longer local to the south

I'm glad that it's not just mine that has everything vibrating & shaking and sounds like a cutlery drawer - a Prius it is not!

It rattled and squeaked something chronic.... and the brakes squeaked like crazy, but all true track cars seem to suffer from that.

No comfort whatsoever within. Bucket seat, not much room, could hardly turn my head with the gear on...

Amazing experience though. Raw, visceral driving experience and the noise will live with me forever...

Yep, sounds about right - I'm looking forward to the long drives to various circuits & car shows next year - I'll be taking ear plugs and a cushion or two!

Forgot to mention, I came 3rd on the day in the “Telemetry” competition and this was the prize I received as a result. It’s absolutely stunning, I couldn’t believe it!

So the tuition was quite good, because I managed to keep my power delivery, braking and steering input as close to the Instructor example as possible, to the point I came 3rd. I was absolutely beside myself.... It weighs a tonne....

And one last post whilst I’m waiting for the official pictures from Maserati, which I’ll try to post when I get them. They’re supposedly sending a link next week once they’ve curated them...

This was my favourite picture I took on the day....

“That moment when you realise you have 2 GT4MC race cars, a team of Maserati engineers and an empty race track to play with all afternoon.....”

What’s the estimated HP on the MC?

It’s exactly 430HP. It’s the lack of weight and exhaust silencers plus a modified exhaust manifold that give it the speed apparently... and slick tyres and a rock hard suspension setup....

I did the same 25 years ago on a jolly with Auto Italia, they were using Alfa's then
I got my certificate!
It was a great weekend and some of the girls we met in the local hotel were just stunning !

I've managed to squeeze mine up to 506HP, it's a bit of a weapon!

Crikey! You’re living the dream! I love that you bought one of these and turned it into the ultimate project car. If had the money, the time and the skills, I’d probably do the same... I hope I get to see your car in the flesh someday, I’m already a big fan of the concept

Thanks, it's been great fun
It will be out and about next year for sure so you can hopefully reacquaint yourself with a GT4 car!
