The cynic in me says cool represents money.
Not so.
Cool can be trend-setting and mass-market too.
One or two exceptions there though - Google? how is that cool?
The board who voted represented a very small cross-section of the market place, and only by dint of their own buying decisions.

Been talking about this on Pistonheads today - the consensus is that there is nothing 'cool' about being on a cool list. Quite the opposite in fact.

I think the list more about being aspirational, what would people actually want, what do they aspire to? It's not a measure of car brands, just the man/woman in the street who has heard of AM but not Spyker, Pagani etc. Ferrari/Porsche are rich bankers cars in their opinoin, AM is what James Bond drives in the movies. That's all it is!

I thought Benltley were the 'voiture de jour' of the footballists these days? Aston are a bit low key!

I still see Aston as a cool car .... After all any car that Bonds drive has an air of coll about it.......Agree with Miles marmite cars aren't really 'cool' as I think to be cool it has to be a car that loads aspire to.......There are lots of cars that I think are cool that many don't so are they truely cool..??....Not sure...This is all in the eye and mind of the beholder...........Cool can mean loads of things...It not just about beauty but it helps .......................

One of the coolest cars for me is the Alfa SZ but that can not be described as a beauty....

Sorry Andy, what I meant was I'm not sure I aspire to Marmite, which is also on the cool list, but I like your thinking.

But Lewis.....guys, would you have preferred those in the know or opinion makers saying the converse....or your fav car/marque being at the bottom of the least desirable or least aspirational list for whatever reason?

Am inclined to take as many accolades as possible as life goes by...................Lewis's Volante is definitely a very..................very cool AM!

Thanks Frank!

I'd bet money that if there was an 'uncool brands' list then Aston would again probably top it; footballers car, kitch James Bond references like 007 Le Mans car, awful adverts (seen the Rapide one?), overexposure, oversupply, resting on their laurels and too busy thinking they're cool to actually make a decent product!

Coolness is purely in the eye of the beholder and is a bit of an uncool concept in the first place! I think 50s/60s Jags, Steve McQueen sunglasses and driving gloves are cool... To someone a generation younger than me, they are the epitome of bad taste!

Saw two girls/ladies today; One was about 19-22, the other about 38-42.

The younger looked like she was already in her under-ware, all-be-it very hot in the sexual sence, the other dressed in a summer dress, wonderful curves and with a look of Ms A Hetburn in Breakfast at Tiffanies...now she looked cool...effortless class, which will out-last the youngers look at my little bottom look, understated without being brash and enogh to turn most mens heads in a wow factor rather than a sleazy way.

So many of these cars with their 'Bling' and look at me will look trashy in a year or two [C 600C types]...ones who have a little sophisication will always look classy and COOL no matter the age, cars and girls.
