I just picked up my Granturismo S with MC Shift and i've been using it in manual mode with the paddles. The problem is i cant drive it that well!!

When i shift from 1-2 from stand still in Sport i get a bit of judder sometimes.

My wife is sh!t scared when i'm behind the wheel haha !! I can't drive and the car is an absolute beast in sport mode.

Any driving tips would be great.

Thanks

With the GTS, you don't need to move your accelerator position when changing gear. Also, they don't like chaining at low rpm, make sure you change well up in the 5k rev band.

If you are getting judder, it sounds like there may be a clutch setup or wear issue.

Brakes aren't binding are they?

Where in the UK are you, we have members everywhere who would only be too happy to go for a drive with you.

don't lift off accelerator, keep it pressed when in sport mode.

others with GT owners should be along soon to give more advice

welcome by the way, congrats and don't forget pics

If its anything like the CC gear change then back of the gas a little when you change gear and it smooths it out.

Im sure somebody with a GT will be along shortly with first hand experience.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new car.

Got the judder when the car was cold and pulled off the driveway.

It would appear you have an issue, they are very easy and very smooth to drive.

Where did you buy it from, and when did you pay for it?

Welcome along and the other point to add is that the gear change is smoother when the car is fully warmed up - 20/30 minutes. In MC mode, the change can be a little jerky as it is such a quick shift and whilst as Matt says you don't need to lift off the throttle when up-shifting, a very very subtle lift off will smooth the gear change in my experience

Thanks .. i think i been changing up gears too early and lifting my foot off the throttle. I did notice it being smooth when i change at higher revs

I only picked it up 2 days ago, its just had a full 48hr service at Maserati JCT600 this week at the cost of £1700 with some extras

i think i was possibly being thrown forward due to changing gears too quick in sport

I find if you're above around 3 to 3.5 k revs then don't lift, however if you change below that then a very gentle lift keeps is smooth.
I also find when changing down its smoother for example if you're breaking as opposed to changing down whilst coasting with foot off the accelerator.

You will soon grasp it

It sounds like you're getting the hang of it - the more you drive it, the easier it gets - any excuse!

Hullo jsweet, welcome and well done.

Number 1 top tip for these cars which is mandatory is to remember that it has an undocumented start process. If you don't follow this trying to manoeuvre at low speed will be jerky as all h3ll and twice as perilous.

1. Insert key and turn the ignition on so all the warning lights come on
2. Wait for the, all to go out. Well, those that do go out
3. Then, and only then, start the car.

You'll find it transformed.

Comments re gear changes as per other posts. Plus go and buy a battery charger and keep it topped up if not used for at least 30 minutes daily. As in one run of at least thirty minutes. Track down the CTEK / lidl all thread. It's still "trending", so to speak.

Great cars, aren't they? I've had mine nearly four years and still love it. Every time I drive it's a thrill.

Try not a life but more of a toe curl to feather the throttle on/off when shifting a medium revs. If you want to drive the car to the redline just keep your foot planted to the floor and bang through the gears.

30 mins daily??!

I use mine once a week. Sometimes once every two weeks. Never had to use a trickle charger!

My tips are:

1. Never let the EPB turn on. Always always always push the park off button and leave it in gear.

2. When starting the car turn the ignition so car powers up. Let all dash lights check and go out - usually after 5 seconds (obviously the engine and a couple of other lights stay on) before you start the car this allows time for the clutch to recalibrate itself and stops any jerkiness when travelling at slow speed.

3. Changing gear - if below 3k revs I always lift off the accelerator a little. Allows for a smoother gear change. However if you are pushing harder then no need to lift off. 1st to 2nd is always the hardest to master.

4. Don't leave the seats forward after someone has got out the back. They tend to lose their memory.

5. Adjust the bass, treble and midrange of the sound system. It makes a huge difference to the standard setup. Don't forget you need to adjust it for every input - radio, in car HD and aux as they are all configured separately.

6. Get a luggage net for the boot. Stops all you small stuff flying around as you hoon it everywhere. You can get them in eBay for around £30.

7. You can adjust the dash to show revs and speed and gear in the middle portion. This is my favoured setting.

8. Don't drive it anything a part from MC Shift mode. Everything is else is rubbish and completely devoid of the experience you should be having.

I am in Surrey as well. Happy to show you other stuff as well and meet up.

OK, a badly worded tip. Being clear, it apparently takes 20 minutes of driving to replenish the charge lost from starting, so if you repeatedly drive short journeys the battery will eventually pack up. Like hoyin, mine will happily go a few weeks without being charged or used (battery is 18 months old) but as a general rule I tend to put it on the charger for a couple of days every fortnight regardless. Or, better, drive it.

As for hoyin's other tips, I didn't know about 5 but do now and will go have a fiddle later.

thanks, those are great tips, how do you adjust the dash to show revs and speed ? i've tried scrolling through the menu using the mode button but i don't know how to change the selection.

would be happy to meet up anytime.

Thanks for the tip

Yes its a great car, peoples reactions are like nothing i've had in any other car, i get random people giving me a thumbs up and comments when just filling up at petrol station. I considered other cars like Bentley Continental and Porsche 911 but they were a little common even though good cars

I wanted something different and special and i think the Maserati Granturismo just says "I have good taste" in my opinion.

One of the first Maserati GT i looked at had a flat battery and the salespeople were struggling to get the boot open and charge it ? i will get a charger, any particular one you recommend?
