I'm off!

As a few of you know, I've decided to 'semi-retire', I'm selling the business, house, land, most of the horses (yeahh! ;D), lorry...... lock, stock, the lot, and off to where the grass is greener. France..... (and before any of you warn me against how rude the French are, be warned, I'm half French, so you can expect me to be rude back! ;-D ) This is the reason for my forum absence, as I've been pre-occupied getting everything in gear for our new life. (This was also the reason for my last minute decision to pull out of the Monte Carlo trip, tough one that, but too much suddenly to sort!) It has been a sudden'ish decision, but I'm tired of the business I've run for 25+ years, and no longer have the energy or desire for it. Also, it'll be nice to be mortgage free :)

The reason for mentioning this on here is that the Mas, that originally was the last thing I wanted to let go of, and had chatted to Andy about handling the sale for me once we left these shores, has got to go sooner. After a long Jubilee weekend in France we have fallen in love with the perfect property! FATAL! We haven't sold ours yet! Also, what we had ear marked as our deposit has largely been consumed elsewhere, so the Mas (and our new Horsebox, if anyone is interested....... it's got a toilet..!) has to go for us to realise our dream! Sad, but right now, all I want is that house!!! (It ticks all our boxes, has a separate small cottage for our Son, he's in love with it too; has a separate sorted farm house for family and friends to stay....... ALL MASERISTI WELCOME! :D ; has enough land for the 2 horses (yes got the wife down to 2! (Result! Now have to think of a new forum name!?); has a garage and a pit; cider apple trees to make me cider :D ; plenty of charm and character............... and I don't want to loose it!)

So, grab a bargain! The face lifted 4200 "Vintage" that has been my absolute pride and joy for the past few months is "up for grabs"! It's metallic black with black leather, has white stitching and piping and also has the darkened wheels. Drives PERFECTLY! Recent 4 new tyres, and a very recent clutch and all the bits associated fitted by Dick Lovetts of Swindon.
It's got a full 'Meridien Modena of Lyndhurst' service history, on the nail, and had a FULL service just prior to my buying it last November by 'Fioranos Ferarri & Maserati' in the New Forest. MOT the same. It wants for nothing. It's done 64k miles, most of which have been motorway miles by the previous owner, Meridien have verified this. MY2005 (Nov 2004) It also has the tool kit, Maserati inflator kit, 6 disc changer, etc, and is a car that has been very well looked after, and it shows. The "Vintage" bits are a really nice touch.

I paid 17k, have spent about 3 1/2k on clutch, tyres and cruise control (also fitted by DL's), so I figure 15k to be a snip for a quick 'equity release' (don't want to drop any lower obviously). So...... any one interested??? If so, please hurry! Haven't advertised it else where, would rather someone on here that actually knows what they are looking at bought it. I never sell privately, but I have every confidence in this car, and if I can muster up my 'necessaries' for our deposit elsewhere, I shall hang on to it for as long as...... then at the last moment it will be in the trusty hands of our Andy, or if not convenient at the time, our forums 'fail-safe' Dicky Grace.

The future will see me back in a Mas somewhen down the line I'm positive (a left hooker :D), so you can't get rid of me on here that easily, but right now all I care about is not loosing this dream of ours!
The weathers been cr*p this week for photos, so heres a few that I've taken recently on my phone. I'll get some proper pics if the rain ever stops! ("Flaming June", eh?!) Andy took some better ones some time ago and put them on here, I'll look for the thread in a bit.......

Oooo, nearly forgot, it has a set of Larini's on, so they are up for sale, unless someone wants those left on, and wants to negotiate the price to include these aural beauties, in which case the originals can be carefully placed in a box in the boot :)
Oh, and I put the private plate on it.....

Interested???

Stunning, and all I can say is great mind think alike.

I too am looking at property in France, Mayenne in the Loire Valley (not far from Le Mans neither)

Where are you looking and what sort of house have you seen?

All the best.

Both happy and sad for you there fella, a lovely write up setting the scene nicely... You have to live for the moment and do what ever it takes to make it so; having been bitten by the trident bug I'm sure you'll be back. Good luck with the reluctant sale and your plans.

Looked at Mayenne, ended up at Côtes-d'Armor, slightly easier for keeping an eye on my aging Father who lives close to both Southampton airport (easy from Renne) and Portsmouth (easy from St. Malo).
It's a old stone built longere, with three other houses, few acres and a wood on the land and a section of river...... have fallen for it!!! :p

Sounds idyllic Mark and I hope everything falls into place for you. Sad to hear the Maser has to go, but completely understandable. There are a couple of forum members searching for 4200's at the moment and they'd do well to consider your's as it's lovely. Hope you manage to sell it quickly and at that price I can see no reason why you wouldn't.

Cheers, Miles.

Mark, can I wish you all the the very best with both move and car sale, am sure at that price and condition it will sell well and hope it goes to a good home.

We first bought in the Loire valley back in 1988, then sold it to buy in Paris.....and the rest of the portfolio was accumulated thereafter.

Hope you stay on the forum and fill us in on your extended vacance in the motherland

:)

All the best!!
As an estate agent i always tell people NEVER to look for property unless they are under offer or sold....as when you fall in love its hard after to get everything going....
You have done that!! Haha but best of luck and i hope you sort it all out....

If i had 15k id be interested, looks lovely....

Andy is the man to sell it as hes very respected on here and other fors, i can vouch for him as a stand out guy!!

Thanks Chaps for all your comments and well wishes. You're all such an affable bunch on here, I hope you'll come and visit us, you're all welcome, and Dem, you're SO right! The plan was to merely to check areas out and to see what our budget would get us, but, well the best laid plans, eh!?!

On a different note, Son and I just got back from watching Prometheus in 3D. Great film, and 3D has come on so much, the best part was turning around during a dramatic and bright part and seeing all the fellow 'Joe Nineties' with mouths agog! :D

Gosh what a small world. I see the above Mayenne property is being sold by Domus Abroad. I bought my French place from them over twenty years ago. Say hi to Maurice for me.

Indeed it is, I will, as I will be speaking to him in a couple of weeks, who shall I say you are?

Very nice mate. Your father, lives near the airport hey, not Eastleigh is it, where I grew up and my folks still live?

Any chance you can show us a link to the house you are after, this is the one I am looking at. Well, its sold, but it can always fall through. Have not seen it yet, but am going to view it on my way to LMC next month:

I've got the guys direct phone number and name for that place Matt! We'd earmarked it to look at if we'd aimed for Mayenne. Been on a while....... as most have!

Will PM you....

Mark....it's just a pity we didn't get the chance to meet in Monte Carlo. We had several e-mail changes and i was hoping to meeting you.

Your car looks beautiful, sure she'll sell soon. I have to say that, if i was interested in buying something, i would ask you pics of your new home in France.. I realise you're very excited!!

Would love to leave my country to get to a better place. Not because of the crisis, because i'd like sometime to live in a place that's more clear, more organised, more human-oriented. Greece has the weather but nothing else. People are cr@p. So i am happy that you're happy about following your dream!

Good luck mate!Sometime we should arrange this road trip to Norway, as talked on the other thread!

PS:parisien, do you have a house in Paris??You lucky man!

Nikos. You must come and visit!

I'm looking for a quiet life now. Problem with the rat race, is that it's full of vermin!

Norway may be possible next year, but to be honest, more likely the following. MC next year though would be an easy one for me, if all goes well that is, may still be here if all goes wrong! (Mind you, once I set my mind on something, I don't stop til it's done, my best point and my worse!)

See you soon enough Nikos, I'm sure :)
