AIB today - £225 for the 2003 Spyder and £75! For the Citroen DS. 3k miles leisure policy and both with agreed value when I can take the pics: Spyder blocked in the garage by fresh paving and the DS naked in the workshop.

I'm with AiB.
You never know they are any good until you claim!
Only thing that niggles me is that the policy is with Marker Study, who were shocking when I claimed off a third party who was with Marker Study.

Going to try Aviva. Based on the above.
Does anyone know of any companies chasing business at the moment?
Its just for the Saab Aero daily. Am with Tesco and it went up from £210
last year (comp and 4k miles) to an offer of £250, which annoys me.
I realise there are wider factors, however I have another year's NCB to
factor in. Got a quote for £220, but would like lower, if poss. TIA :)

My Insurance is up for renewal.
Currently with AiB specialist agreed value £400 social only 3k miles a year.
Adding it to my Aviva multicar policy I have for my BMW and Mitsubishi would be less (£300), and I could use it for business mileage too if I wish, and that is with 0 NCB too!
Agreed value VS business mileage use it more

How have people got on with their Coupe coming up as the Spyder convertible on some on-line quotes, like Aviva? All others I've used correctly have it as the Coupe.

I would not touch AIB with the proverbial barge pole. The best for Agreed Value classics policy with limited mileage in my view is Locktons. I switched from my broker to Locktons for both the Porsche and the Gransport. They are recommended/approved by Porsche Club GB and Maserati Club UK. Membership gives discounted premiums with Locktons.

Nothing comes close in terms of cover when you look at tge total package on offer for Porsche and Maserati cars.

AIB never got back to me. Dealing with Locktons was easy.

I had the same issue with mine. After being with Direct Line for several years they sent the renewal and it had changed on their system to a Spyder. Had a long/difficult conversation with someone who had to constantly refer to his manager and the result was they couldn't change their system to Coupe and could no longer insure the car. I went to Cherished.

AiB are very good at getting back now renewal time, they phone everyday, and if I can't answer that particular phone being on a call, I can hear the house phone ringing next within a few minutes!

Nothing to do with inflation at 9/10% ?

I found Footman James very good. They understood the cars, useage profile and storage patterns. Having previously been with a general insurer the better understanding of a classic/sports car owner was really obvious.

I had lunch with the MD of Footman James a few weeks back - nice chap. The broker I use there is Nathan Hale, so ask for him. They are excellent for classics, modern classics and collections. Even added my vintage tractor to my multi-car policy.

Premiums are dependent on many factors, so my experience with Footman James may be different to that of others. Locktons premium to switch to them for the Gransport was £500 with £250 excess. Footman James quoted £745 with £500 excess. Both agreed value policies 3k miles per annum. FJ then increased further adding in the standard items in Locktons cover that were optional with FJ. That discussion didnt happen because the basic cover was 50% dearer.

Footman James were better with the Porsche Turbo. Locktons came in at £590 with £250 excess. FJ came in at £550. But adding in the extras that were standard with Locktons took the premium to over £700.
Then windscreen cover - if I used Porsche to supply and fit windscreen wuth FJ, the cover was limited to £1000. That would leave me out of pocket because the windscreen supply and fit is well in excess of £1000.

Policies should be covered like-for- like as this example with the Turbo. I've got to say Locktons is easy to deal with and their policies are all-inclusive such as allowing me to drive any other persons car not owned by me with fully comprehensive cover (not 3rd party only as is usually the case).

AIB is off the list. Some guy there called Strachan was the biggest bluffer and timewaster that seniors should fire at AIB.

Only one word describes AIB: AWFUL!

Locktons have just quoted me very competitively, although MC UK membership required at £75.
Also cover for driving other cars full comprehensive like you said.

Nobody came close to Locktons. £75 for Maserati UK is small price to pay. I won't b£gg#r around next year with AIB and other timewasters.
