Hi all.
Monday i have to get the Spyder insured but my existant has upped the price to £980 from £760 and the best i can get with admiral is £804.99 book values.
I have asked everyone to come to an agreed value of say £21k as they say the car books at £13k !!!! (form an orderly que please)
No one will offer this although i can get insurance for £793 from some unknown company.
who would likely give agreed values and of course be competative?
sugestions please..

Adam,

This sounds like a classic case of needing to speak to a person rather than a person with a computer screen saying yes or no.
I presume you have tried the usual brokers (A-plan, Adrian Flux etc)?
Competition Car Insurance in Nottm seemed to do some good deals recently - worth a try perhaps.

Good luck,

David

Just did and they gave me a whopping £1350 with £350 vol exc 500 comp excess.LOL
I got £804.99 from admiral then they started to say they had to add the values of the optionss on so it went up to almost a £1000 ! I can understand that the options cost more but most cars will have these anyway.
Its just cosmetics mostly. Sat Nav,heated electric seats and voice over Phone are the only other items.
I dunno...... Seems we are all out to screw the next man for whatever we can nowadays. I paid £700 last year!! renewal was £979.80 with an extra year NCD!!
LOL

I had this problem last year when renual came up on my agreed value policy for my 3200 AC and my Ghibli (both on the same policy) The rules changed mid August and they would no longer offer agreed value on any 2001 car onwards. The policy was with Hagarty. I ended up with an Aplan deal with an additional policy paying out 25% extra once the replacement value had been agreed total for both cars. the premium was £695.00 F/C + £45.00 for the extra cover! not bad as there where no milage conditions but not ideal in the event of a total loss.

At the Classic car show NEC in November I again discussed the issue with the Hagarty Guys they said that since the summer a couple of companies had re assesed the situation and they would put my request up for a quote.

They came up trumps, Hiscox's (first class company by thye way) offered a joint agreed value policy for both cars wi9th 4000 miles on each total cost £659.00 Aplan would not give me much of a refund on the 6 months I had left to runso I have stuck with them until June when the Hiscox policy will be started.

Neither car is used every day as I have other cars and that makes a huge difference with this type of insurance.

P

first ports of call P.
Funny but the same details on each site bring up the same top insurer but vastly differing prices.
Admiral then elephant came cheapest but varied from £793-990 depending on the site quoting for me.
ODD to say the least.
Anyway i had to go with admiral but paid a bit more for the options fitted at factory.
No agreed values anymore though.
This is my third car so i have others to use but that made no difference to them.

Bit late, sorry - but how many miles a year do you do? If 5k or less, give ClassicLine a call, they look at cars like these as 'future classics'.

Have all mine with them, think the Aston is the most expensive, agreed at £55k for £500 odd quid, Marcos at £45k value for £360 I think. Had the maser with them too, agreed £23k (sold for £13k!) for £450ish. They are a good bunch, though I have never claimed as yet!
