Intercooler upgrade or clean and improve efficiency ....

I know there are upgraded charge cooler mods that the AMG guys often do on the 5.5 V8 supercharged motors. You can get heatsoak really quickly on these when running a few burst of full throttle. I suffered badly from it at Llandow last time in the E55K.

They have split systems with a new upgraded cooler but with cold cooling from a container in the rear boot. I am guessing cold or refrigerant based cooling. Many guys into gaming do it on their graphics cards as well. Maybe liquid nitrogen?

This is really interesting, for me, I see these kits tee into the air conditioning (with jubilee clips - madness!) to cool the charge water, plus they have a big water tank to increase the thermal mass of the system.

The capacity of the air conditioning system would, in my view, mean that for sustained high loads, mean you were not doing a great deal of cooking relative to the amount of heat being generated, but interesting all the same.

For air to air intercoolers the best option by far is a water spray system. Firstly the adiabatic cooling reduces the inlet air to the inter cooler below ambient temperature (dry bulb) and the latent heat of the evaporation of the water on the surface of the exchanger massively increases the cooling capacity.

This would also work on an air to water system if the water temperatures are high enough.
