Hi Mate

I'm not a vet but had dogs all my life.

Dogs can suffer from dementia as well as a weak bladder when they get older. Is she trying to pee but without success if so she could have a bladder infection, this can also lead to mental confusion just as in humans. I'd get her checked out asap.

I'm not a vet! I do admit the username is slightly confusing. I'm a surgeon (humans only!), and Cowie is my surname, hence the combination. I do have dogs, horses and chickens though. Maybe I should change my name to cowsmallholder. I digress...
Take your dog to the vet, dipping the urine is a very easy test and takes seconds - that'll tell you whether it has an infection. But it could be dementia too, or a stroke, or just about anything really. My friends dog had a stroke and licked her paws non-stop when she wasn't walking in circles and banging in to things (yes, she was put down very soon after that started)...
Best to get the experts to have a look IMO

PS Matt - 'flying his plane' that's chippiepilot isn't it?

I do know of one of the bosses in my field in London who operated on a badger when the animal hospital had no one suitable on call. I suspect this was many years ago though (the badger didn't make it) I've even 'operated' on a pigs head (it was dead) in my kitchen to prepare slides for a presentaion, when the photos we'd taken in hospital hadn't come out well enough...

Thanks Frank but I dont think a second opinion , all be from a more profesional perspective, is required. she dont know if it's half past three or friday. problems now is when she takes herself off for a little walk outside and cant remember where she lives.
that may not be a bad thing now i think of it.
