Hopped in to my 159 at lunchtime having lauded the build quality on here to be met with billowing vapour as the contents of the A/C system tried to poison me.

Seems the link arm for the wiper blades has been gradually sawing away at an ally a/c pipe which finaly cried "enough!!"

Grrrrr!!! Off to the Alfa hospital it goes :firing3:

My friend loved his 159, bought it new. He sold it as he just couldn't cope with the things that went wrong or dropped off...There was never anything serious just little annoying bits but enough for him to throw in the towel.

My last two Alfas 156 2.5 V6 and GT 3.2V6 were 200% reliable and I never had one thing drop off or cause me a sleepless night but I suppose as with any Italian Car you just have to be lucky. Modern Alfas in general are far better built nowdays and can give their German counterparts a good run for their money. Alfa Romeo or 3 Series BMW........NO CONTEST

UM...Disagree with the build quality.. Modern Alfas are still a long way behind and I think they have got worse with cost cutting ... I have had 2 155's and 2 GTV's and both were faultless with nothing falling of or beraking down but the 159 seems to have taken a step back for some reason ... Up to the GT things started to look better. Know of 3 people with 159's and they love the cars but don't have a good thing to say about reliablitly or build quality and the dealers for the matter. Not sure about tyhe latest cars so it may just be the 159...

i felt my GTV was bullet proof...i had 2....a 2.0TS and the V6....
interior felt good and strong and so did the car..i do feel they havent made progress to say the GTV is now 15 years old...
