JC loves Maserati QP

Love the QP but I do think it has an identity crisis. It drives like a sportscar on the open road but fails in the executive stakes when it comes to quality of ride.

I guess it depends on who the executives being driven around are!
It is certainly more than capable for me and my crew...and has a far better ride than some 'executive' cars that I have been in.

Enzo for me its the perfect big car....Handles like a car far smaller and looks better than any in the class.....

exactly Andy, it is a BIG car...but when not on the loud pedal it is quiet and very comfortable,
( having double glazed windows helps with the noise of course :D ),
but plant the right foot down and the fun really starts...If I had one criticism, that would be the brakes...
I personally would like something a little better,
I have been running the uprated FD pads for a while, but I find them not much better than the OEM...
don't get me wrong, they are fine for normal and reasonably spirited driving,
but (on the odd occasion that I have been on a private road)....
it would have been 'less buttock clenching' shall we say :D :D
I may have to go the big brake route (once Florence is 100%).

You would be more than welcome to to have a ride, or even take her for a spin anytime Andy...just wished we lived a little closer.

Doesn't Clarkson have a long running grudge with Maserati after panning some of their previous models?

In any case, seen and read his earlier QP reviews and although he does slate the electrics and the fact the earlier models looked like a Cresta, he does seem to genuinely like the car. Especially the Ferrari sourced V8.

That famous quote: "I own a Maserati. Life's good".

I remember him driving the 22 2v Bi Turbo and he liked that but on the whole he is not a big Maserati fan.

I remember him driving the 22 2v Bi Turbo and he liked that but on the whole he is not a big Maserati fan.

Understandably his boyhood dreams were dashed , its common knowledge that he idolised the Boorer and the Merak as a kid , by the time he came of age and able to fufil his dreams Maserati were producing the BI turbo and early QP , and lets say that wasn't their best era , likes of the boorer and Merak were surpassed hence he feesl he was robbed , childishly he has held the grudge just a little too long

There's a famous line in one of his books where he takes a petualnt swipe at Maserati's reluctance to let him drive press demonstrators after a particularly poor review.

Went something like: "So I was informed I was able to take the Quattroporte for a drive right after the journo from the Welsh Pig Breeders Journal had finished with it".

His recent review of the new QP was quite complimentary.

On the QP's sound: "Do your hear that!!!! That's carbon dioxide being converted to pure noise".
