Jukebox for dummy

Ok - this is embarrassing, but I have no idea how to determine whether my GT (MY08 4.2) has the jukebox option. I have the Bose pack, which let me to believe that I would have the jukebox / hard drive, but when I browse the different input sources, I only see FM/CD/Aux. No mention about Jukebox.

Does it mean that I do not have the jukebox? or is there anything special that needs to be done to activate it?

I thought they all came with Jukebox.

How are you browsing the sources? Via the menu, or the source button and (critical) have you got any music on it, cos, I think, you won't see it unless you go into the menu....

C is right. If you press Source on the dash it should scroll through radio, CD and Jukebox. Pressing List on the dash brings up the albums that are on there but I can't remember if it needs to be on Jukebox to do that. There's also the ability to configure it from the menu.

When you insert a CD, you can go to the CD menu in the audio settings and select copy CD and that will start the ball rolling in copying that CD to the hard drive.

Do you have a handbook with your car? If so, it's all in there & easy to follow

I do have the handbook and it is very succinct when it comes to jukebox. I will check tomorrow, if I can find a CD :)

Is there any other way to load the jukebox that playing a CD?

Yes, in the audio function on the main menu it should be one of the options and then on the source button, when it is pressed repeatedly it should scroll between radio, aux & jukebox. But if there is no music saved to your hard drive, the jukebox option may not appear?

Do you have a USB port in the glovebox? If you do, you can transfers MP3s to the jukebox that way. Be warned, it's very slow. But once done, it's done.

I think if you press menu, then go to audio functions and press the right hand knob it will give you a list of functions, including those for the jukebox.

The function of the "List" button is source dependent. It does similar things each time but the precise function depends on which source you have (and, IIRC, whether you're showing navigation etc).

Correct, if you have jukebox selected it will list the titles of the albums you have loaded but if you have the radio selected, it will list the stations available for selection, etc

!!! It must just be me then, but I haven't had any problems following my handbook - for some reason I must be on the same wavelength as it's author - I don't know if that's a good thing or not!

I'd suggest it's not a great thing :)

Do you have the additional Infotainment manual?

I do have that additional manual, I think - my wallet is pretty stuffed, if only the one I sit on was the same

Just to set your expectations - even if you DO have a jukebox (I really hope that you do) then it is pretty fiddly to use. I have had on in both a 4.2 and a 4.7 and despite spending ages mucking about with them, doing pretty much everything that people say here, it is still way better to plug your phone into the AUX socket and stream music.

The best thing about it was 'inheriting' the jukebox content from the previous owner, in my 4.2 ;-)

But even in the more recent models, the infotainment system is rubbish in comparison to that fitted in the new Ghibli, which is superb.

I inherited Robbie Williams, Westlife & Lily Allen on my jukebox. I picked the car up from Nareman in Shepherds Bush, the hard drive was suitably blanked off by the time I hit the Westway

Surely having that in the stereo would have written it of?

It was a close run thing, luckily I didn't disclose it to my insurance company and I THINK I got away with it
