i had a little problem this morning with my sisters car, it wouldnt start, the way she parked it i couldnt get jump eads on it so i phoned the rac to come and they started it using those jump start packs
i was thinking about getting one, my maser has never not started (please dont jinx me) and neither ha my seat diesel runaround or the smart but as winter comes in and all cars are over 8 years old you do think that having one will be so easy to start and et you on with your day

have any of you anything you can recommend?? i was looking at a snap on but they £250, do i need to spend that much? can i buy the cheaper ones at halfords at £100, any ideas or recommendation will be appreciated guys thanx

Don't laugh but I got a rechargable light, pump & booster from Costco for £29.95 had it for 3 years use the pump & light often & the jumper cables start an old 3Ltr Citroen XM I have knocking about with ease! Worth a go.

I was advised by **** Lovett in Swindon that I should never jump start my GS. I had a flat battery and tried jump starting it but it wouldn't jump so I rang lovett's they warned me not to as it could have a detramental effect on the computer/electrics but simply to charge it overnight, thats what I did and have hand no problem since, however I don't know if this is true, perhaps anyone has had any experience of this.

I used a cheap one for about ten years, all I w ould say is remember to keep it charged up or on trickle charge, otherwise you can guarantee it will be flat when you need it most!

Dem i used to have a cheapie jumpstarter pack and it worked for years , any size engine no probs , but somehow it disapppeared via my sons and there mates and never returned , so i bought another about a year ago biggest load of ..........te , only seems to start anything less than 2 litre and has to be permantely on charge , like pibbow has the light and compressor which workwell ,

Re- jump starting the massers , ideally Maserati recommend not to incase of electrical spikes , higher end jump starters have a built in regulator to prevent this , the AA Rac carry them , what i have done in the past , with the 4200 was to isolate the battery , attach the jump starter and leave for 5 mins , the current will transfer from one to the other untill they reach equi-librium , usually enough to start a V8
